State Fair Food

Surprised no one has started one, but please post your state fair food reviews here from this year? What's good and what's not?

Fair foods are always good...my last trip on this earth--when the time comes--will be to rent a Hover-Round and go to the State Fair and eat myself to death on all the food--tasty and delicious...a great tribute to living life to it's fullest...we only go around once in this life...no reason to hang on until you have become an old withered thing looking like an old wallet...go out with a smile on your face!

I didn't eat much this year, but the chocolate covered bacon was pretty tasty. Corn dogs were also good as always.

we went this weekend and the only thing that i had that was noteworthy was 'chicken on a stick' from one of the asian places, it was great!

Hands down the best was the DONUT BURGER - bacon cheese burger between two glazed donut halves. Simple. Genius. McGriddle on steroids. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

2nd place winner for craziness was the deep fried cinnamon bun on a stick. Heavy as hell, and messy, but oh gawd...I only had a bite, that was enough.

Loser was the chocolate covered bacon. I had such high expectations - 5 bucks and a couple of strips, not much to eat. Tasted just like chocolate covered pretzels to me anyhow (salt and chocolate). Waste of money IMO.

Strange and sort of meh, but I love the name, pork parfait and roast beef sundae. A winner for display.

Fried pickles would be better if the fry bits could stick to the pickle better, fried ravioli is great, fried mac and cheese and fried potatoes are a little dry.

Didn't get to try the fried soda or beer...maybe next year...

I am continuously amazed at the food put out at state fairs. The only hope I have seen recently is the salad on a stick at the Iowa State fair.
