Thinking about popping in this week for the first time. Seems a decent enough food menu.
Any particular food offerings for which they are famous, or infamous?

I would skip the food and just drink heavily.
LOL, nah, I can drink a diet coke at home, and control the telly (some nights).
It's a decent place. Has a big non-smoking section, is never too packed. I've only been once, but it was a decently good time.
The food is more than decent. This is from another board, penned by the beer and wine director of the Good Egg Group:
I also have to recommend 51st Street Speakeasy as a dinner option on a budget. Sergio and Anna are a Guatemalan husband and wife that run the kitchen over there. People think of the place as a bar (which, mostly, it is), but my wife and I eat there 2-3 times a week for dinner.
Sergio always has a special, usually blackened Salmon, Tomatillo Tilapia, Fish soup, or pork bocconcini. They will run you about $10/plate for a meal that would be $18-$25 anywhere else. The wine selection is minimal, but they have Rare Vos from Ommegang (a Belgian-style beer that they sell in a wine-sized bottle). They also have a nice patio area and little to no crowd in the early evening. My wife always gets the brisket tacos with cole slaw, and I nearly always get the special (but the Cubana sandwich calls my name from time to time).
