  1. Talking Spring 2010

It's that time of year again!

This is the thread for last year.

    http://www.okctalk.com/okc-undergrou...82-spring.html

Down below is the pictures for this year. I'm not at the same place (moved across the street, same complex), so I had to start over. :-)

^^^ Started on this area first, leveling it out for the bricks.

^^^ Worked on how to do the curve.

^^^ Laid out how big I wanted this to be.

^^^ Change of plan. The area with no grass, there is cement a few inches below... Whoever was doing concrete work failed hardcore!

^^^ This is what it was suppose to be, but I had to downsize.

^^^ No access to a working rototiller, so I had to do this the hard way.

^^^ My goal was to take as much dirt out and add in the Miracle Grow soil.

^^^ I decided on this curve style.

Anyone want to share own projects?

why is this thread simply called "spring 2010"? its rather vague and misleading in that it could and can incorporate a plethora of so many other topics. based on your pics, you shouldve entitled it "spring lawn gardening 2010"

Nicely done lad. When time and treasure permit, you might consider setting some planters or a built up box over the space where you located the buried concrete.

Some may differ, but I like your choice of critter to serve as your garden watcher.

Nice, Thunder! I also like the birdie.

We just put in the tomato garden but I don't have any pictures.

    :-)

As for the cement area, I plan to place a waterfall fountain, which I see one at Lowes and Walmart (both is similar) at around 200 bux. It will be surrounded by rocks as a fill in. Maybe a walkway path to the fountain with small portion on each side having flowers or shrubs. Rocks to fill in around the curve of the one I had already set up, to eliminate the grass (do not want grass clippings on the mulch).

Further to the left, I'll have a dwarf tree and I think the name is Weeping Mulberry, but I am not sure. I saw one at Marcum's for 75 bux, but not sure if that is the one mom has. It's a tree that stays about 6 feet max and looks very nice when trimmed. I love converting it into a huge pumpkin for Halloween and ball of lights for Christmas.

Here is an example (from Google).

The leaves grow long, so keep them trim to look like that. Shade flowers and rocks underneath.

I know how much work you put into that Thunder and good job. I have been working hard on my garden this year and have decided to dedicate this year to the year of the shrubs. Less annuals and perennials this year and more permanent and evergreen and hopefully less weeding in the future. I will try to post pictures next week if I can get my 18 year old to help me.

You are in for a treat if she does get that 18 yr old to post pictures. I have seen CCOKC's yard and it really is something to see. It's a big ole yard ...all organic and all dug by hand.
