I think it was in spring 61' that we moved from Capitol Hill to a place called Crown Court on So. Sheilds. Anyone remember it ? It was a pretty large place with probably 15 or so regular motel type rooms, but it also had a number of two room apartment type set ups as well. Quite a few lower income families lived there. To my delight it had a large swimming pool that you could'nt pry me out of in the summer. I really learned to be a good swimmer and fanned the fire of my desire to be a frogman like Mike Nelson as soon as I was old enough.
Adjacent to the property was a cafe, "Country Kitchen" I believe, and a gas station and a small laundrymat. A family by the name of McClure owned the cafe when we first moved there, I became buddies with their son Larry. Larrys aunt Mrs. Sadberry bought it later.Behind the north side of the court was the 77 Drive in, I'm sure many of you remember it.
I can't remember the name of the family that run the drive in but I came to know the son . They actually lived INSIDE the base of the screen. Very strange inside ,long narrow rooms and just a few small windows. Seen a lot of movies there.
Would anyone have pictures of the Court or Drive in? Also we were bused to school at Moore elementry, anyone go there school year 62-63?
