    Angry Questionable practices at Nonna's

    Held a private room event at Nonna's in Bricktown for over 40 people and found out when time came for the bill that there is a charge for coffee and tea 'because it was available' with no push from the staff letting the attendee's know these products were available nor was there any type of placard that alerted guests to this fact. So they were able to seel that product twice and double their margins. For a business of their caliber and how they promote themselves publicly, a shady practice in my opinion. Just want others to be forewarned if they plan to have events there.

    Wow! Indeed, very shady. I have eaten at Nonna's three times once last year and twice this year. My food has never been fresh (maybe, bad timing?) the service has always been EXTREMELY slow when they aren't busy, and the desserts taste stale. Also, the bartender last time was not very familiar with their drinks either.

    My wife refuses to eat there ever since they changed their bread. They now serve something similar to frozen pillsbury rolls.

    Generally there is a contract/menu that shows what is included for a group of this size. Was it not on there?

    Yes this was on the contract however it was not pushed/promoted by the wait staff as being available nor was there any placard or other indication in the rented room that these products were available to the guests by request. These items were not in the room and would have been brought in by the wait staff from their hallway station. It is mainly just the principle of the matter w/ the comment from Nonna's being that they must charge b/c these products were 'available' even though no one consumed any of the 'available' beverages. So it was never made available imo...had they settled up w/ me - I would have requested that either they bottle it up to go and if that was refused then I would see to it that it was poured out before I left...I suspect that they would have reversed the charge at that point or provide a comp of some sort to make the customer whole. Again it is just the principle of the matter to me.

    Yes wow the margins on coffee and tea are so astronomical high its is enough to make a profit for the year.

    My last food service job was fast food in the early 80's in another state. Never worked at Nonna's and I am just venting and trying to provide notice to others so the same doesn't happen to them anywhere in town especially as the holiday party season gets into full swing. Call it petty if you must but it is the principal of the matter as I can well afford the beverages in question - not one drop consumed yet I am charged. Guests were not aware and maybe were being polite by not requesting. Yes this is in the contract but I am there to mingle with guests and am paying for and expecting full service...it is not in the contract that I will have to notify or provide notice that there is coffee/tea in the hall. All those berating ... think about it if it happened to you would you take it on the chin?

    moral of story: just because an establishment charges high prices doesnt necessarily indicate their service/goods are of paramount caliber.

    I've always had nothing but the best service here. As for coffee service that was included in your contract, dont you think your last post shows that you are being a little petty -- would have watched them pour it out? Based on the quality and freshness of the food I've experienced here, I doubt they would have re-served hours old coffee. And take it home? Why would you want old coffee? Maybe if it was iced coffee season, but really, come on.

    if its someone elses' dime they may have gone on the high end.
    Besides I think Mondoman was a either a stupid customer, or a former employee.

    i would have been pissed as well. what a rip off...that place is a piece of sh*t anyways, their food is garbage. their tea most likely would have tasted like warm piss

    I have never been to Nonna's as well so I'm not judging quality etc. But I have hosted and attended functions like this and as a rule, the waitstaff usually asks the diners whether they would like coffee or tea not the other way around. Can't say whether this was done on purpose or not, but it is something that management needs to correct. ASAP

    My company had it's Christmas party at Nonna's year before last...the atmosphere was nice enough but the food was really not good. I thought maybe it was a one off kind of experience, since it was crowded due to holiday parties but I've gone back and the food was no better. Quite a few friends have said that the food was outstanding at their old location but that once they moved to Bricktown quality & service have declined considerably.
