The Museum of Osteology, currently being built in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, will serve as a public educational facility, focusing on the form and function of the skeletal system. This museum will house nearly 5000 skull and skeletal specimens representing over 2500 vertebrate species. Displays will include adaptation, locomotion, classification and diversity of the vertebrate kingdom with a strong concentration on the class Mammalia (mammals). The Museum of Osteology will be open to the public and will offer a variety of quality educational opportunities, such as guided museum tours and specialty programs for school groups, as well as serving as a source for research specimens. This museum will be the only one of its kind in the world.

Yeah way out there, two miles south of I-240 or three east from I-35.

Wow. That's pretty neat and I hadn't heard about it. Such a random location though, they are going to need some good marketing to get folks over there. Too bad they weren't able to locate it in the Adventure District or another high profile location.

The location seems to have been chosen because it's right next to Skulls Unlimited. They obviously already owned the land and are building out of their own pocket. The fact that it has taken them 5 years to open tells me they are opening it because they have a passion for educating and not for the money. It really should be in a more easily accessible location for the public to enjoy. If this isn't deserving of some government grant, land or building I don't know what is. I really enjoyed the Dirty Jobs episode and had no idea what was involved in preserving bones. I always thought it was just gross and never thought about the educational benefits. I'll definitely be taking the family down when they open and suggesting it to the kids schools for field trips. Good job Skulls Unlimited.

i called this museum, they said they do not know when they will open since it is all funded by the owner and no outside source. I think it would be a great small field trip for students to see...

The site shows a classroom, so hopefully it will offer a nice teaching opportunity.

The place has been under construction for six years... Must be costing the owners a fortune.
