    Default El Pollo Chulo

I thought I'd start a new thread on El Pollo Chulo. There are reviews of the place in other threads, but the restaurant doesn't have it's own thread yet. Not to mention, it's the only true Spanish restaurant in the city that I know of. I ate at their new location with my wife and parents on Saturday. The new location is on NW 50th, in between MacArthur and Ann Arbor (not too far from their original location years ago on about NW 48th and MacArthur. They moved from that location years ago to NW 23rd just east of Meridian. That location is still open as well, and the new location just opened up recently. They have a very healthy, but delicious menu. My wife had the grilled chicken, I had the Kickin Burrito and Street Tacos, my parents had a burrito and street tacos. Everything was excellent, fresh, and healthy! Not to mention it was like $20 bucks for the 4 of us. I highly recommend this place as always! It's been way too long since my previous visit and will hopefully not be that long before I return.

The new location is very nice, clean and modern on the inside, nothing like their other location on 23rd, not that I care too much, because the food is the main attraction.

Found some additional reviews on Eat Around OKC.

My husband and I ate there a week ago - on a sunday. The 23rd st. location is closed on sunday so we tried the new place - It will be a regular stop for us! Healthy menu, tasty side dishes and great price!

We both had the 1/4 citrus marinated, charbroiled chicken + rice & beans + vegetables. All meals come with 2 flour tortillas & salsa fresca. Everything was delish! The chicken is so tender and juicy.

The menu has expanded to include seafood, wraps, salads & tacos.
I look forward to going back! The citrus/charbroiled Salmon is calling me!
and the Baja tacos sound great!

    The owner is very friendly.

I don't know how to categorize the food at El Pollo Chulo, but it is definitely not Spanish.

Agreed. I like El Pollo Chulo, but its typical latin american chicken and (if memory serves me) its run by a Persian guy. Don't go expecting paellas.

I agree the 23rd st location is sub-par -- in appearance.
The building is run-down, no matter that it has a new paint job.
Hodge-podge seating inside and sometimes used cars for sale in the lot!

You should definitely give the 50th st location a try!
The chicken alone is something great!

I went to the NW 23rd location about a year or so ago. It was horrible. The portions were cold and small. It stunk, the trash cans were overflowing and the bathrooms were filthy. Looked like a restaraunt in a border town. I swore I would never go back.
