Thumbs down Midwest City Post Office - Terrible experience!

    What a nightmare!

On February 14, I went into the MWC post office (on Reno) and mailed a package and bought 1000 "Forever" stamps for our upcoming union election. I used my personal credit card in anticipation of being reimbursed by the treasurer as usual.

The clerk rang up my total of $427.10, but could not get the register/computer to spit out a receipt, so he swiped the card again. Again, it didn't work, so he called the supervisor over who told him to run a diagnostic. He did, and tried my card again - still nothing - so she asked me to move to another clerk and told the original clerk to shut down and re-boot. I expressed concern that my card had been swiped three times and she assured me that if I didn't sign a receipt, my card would not be charged.

I moved to the other clerk, completed my business and left.

On 2/21, I pulled up my credit card statement online and guess what! I got charged $1708.40!! That's right - $427.10 X 4!

I went to the post office Monday afternoon, at 3 PM, but the supervisor was at lunch. I left my name and number and copy of credit card bill and receipt so she could check and call me back. No call, so I called at 4:30 and she answered the phone.

She told me she "checked with downtown" and even though she clearly remembered the entire incident, she couldn't do anything without an audit of the stamp stock. I told her to just audit it, but then she started giving me the story that stamp audits are only done once a quarter and they usually didn't come out right. WTF!

It gets worse. She said I'd be better off calling my credit card company and disputing the charge. I informed her that it would take 60 days and it was a lot of work for me to fix HER mistake. She got rude and said she could do nothing.

Ok, I filed the dispute with the CC company, PLUS a complaint with the Post Office Consumer Advocate office in D.C. I've received the return receipts on both, so I guess I'll just wait as the overcharge continues to accrue interest.

Stay away from MWC Post Office! The supervisor is a rude, incompetent idiot - no wonder postal employees go "postal"!

I usually never have a good experience when I go to the MWC Post Office. They are always rude to me and treat me like I'm wasting their time with my mail. I'm pretty sure it's their job to deal with mail. Sorry for your bad experience, hope you get your money back!
