Default Bars/restaurants that are sorely missed

I thought I would open up a thread about bars and restaurants that have gone by the wayside through the years.

Some of my favorite bars that have disappeared through the years.

    Boars Head
    Split T

Anyone else have some old watering holes or restaurants they miss?

I can't believe Shipman's has not been mentioned. How about Sussey's? I really miss the burger joints in and around downtown, Chick's Burger Bar, Cherries...... What was the name of the rootbeer stand at 13th and Broadway?

I mentioned Shipman's on another thread. That was my favorite restaurant
as a kid. The one on Reno was the best. The last on I ate at was on
    Robinson around SW 15th.

    Great BISCUITS!

Cherry's was cool. I ate at the one on N. Broadway near NW 16th.

I don't remember Chicks but I do remember the Rootbeer stand at NW 13th
    and Broadway!

One thing hard to beat was Chi Chi's happy hour. They laid out the best spread.

There was a Chick's Burger Bar on the corner of Sheridan and Walker. Another west of the Santa Fe Depot. One that used to always being taken over by Chick's or Cherrie's was on Broadway South of 13th. Those burgers were so greasey the bun was falling apart before you could eat all of it.

    Sleepy Hollow. The good one.

    1. Leslie's Painted Desert - it had a terrific atmosphere, great food, and an eclectic crowd. PLUS, it was within walking distance of our house!

    2. El Rancho Sanchez mexican restaurant - I STILL dream about their enchiladas! It was right next to the Park Terrace Theatre southside. I believe one of the Chelino's locations is now in their place.

    3. Ding Ho - Also southside, in the old Grant Square Shopping Center. I ate my first Chinese food there. NO ONE EVER made better eggrolls

Tapwerks on Western. I used to love going to that place and now I don't want to pay $5 to park to go to the one in BT.

No doubt...right after they had remodeled to add bathrooms, it went under. Suck.

I would like to add the Samurai Samurai SAMURAI!

Can recall more than one road trip in that time frame where the sole reason to come to OKC was to hit Sleepy Hollow for a meal and then head back to the east side of the state. Pops and momma were nuts for the place back then, as were some of their buds.

    The Bowery, OKC
Town Tavern, Norman (the greatest travesty in Oklahoma history that that closed); F Louie's (and I do like Bob Stoops) but their food and atmosphere are the suck.

I used to love going to Town Tavern before games. I always liked to look at the old schedules with the results on them. You know that The Mont has all of those now.

I miss the Boars Head too. Wasn't that in French Market? I'm kind of nastolgic for old theaters and I liked how they used the movie screens in the bar. Why did it close down?

Also, I can't believe Tapwerks on Western closed. I loved that place before I moved to Houston, the crappiest city on the planet.

Of course the place I miss the most is Laredos. Has the new one opened yet?
