Thread: Wild Hogs

  1. Thumbs up Wild Hogs

A friend and I saw Wild Hogs on Saturday night and really enjoyed it.

It stars John Travolta, Tim Allen, William H. Macy and Martin Lawrence. Marisa Tomei also has a part in the film, playing the love interest of Macy's character.

It's basically a movie about middle-aged men trying to find their youth again.

There's a lot of physical comedy, especially on William H. Macy's part.

There's also a lot of adult language and partial nudity (men's butts) so be careful on taking the children.

While it's not Oscar-caliber by any stretch of the imagination, we enjoyed ourselves tremendously and I do recommend seeing it.

The movie was okay. At least it seemed better than the estimation of a lot of movie critics (the show is currently scoring a miserably rotten 18% on the Rotten Tomatoes "Tomato Meter").

However, I laughed harder at the Shrek-themed THX Sound System trailer that played before the movie.

That trailer wasn't showing at the AMC Crossroads 16 (Regal).

The Crossroads 16 doesn't have any THX certified theaters. In fact, the last time I checked none of Oklahoma City's theaters have any THX certified screens. That will likely change whenever the new Warren Theaters 20-plex in Moore opens.

I saw the show down in Lawton at the Carmike 8. 2000 line 3-chip DLP digital cinema, THX and 24-bit LPCM 5.1 surround sound. Not too shabby. Can't wait to see 300 there.

We saw it last weekend in Bricktown. We laughed and it was a good time. Thought it could have been better with such a great cast. I would have rather the movie been about their midlife crisis roadtrip than the whole Madrid biker war thing. That was kinda goofy.

My favorite part was right after the movie... that cracked me up.

I thought the movie was really enjoyable. The critics didn't like it, but it offered quite a few laugh out loud moments and plenty of chuckles. 3 out of 5 Stars...

I'm so happy... Borat comes out today..

Our bunch...We thought it was hilarious and enjoyed it tremedously...I haven't laughed that hard in such a long time...My abdomen muscle were in spasms by the evening because I laughed so much...Will it win academy awards...Heck no...unless there is one for Best Comedy...And it had some adult humor...and Naked butts...But that was tasteful and I have seen much worse on regular prime time programing...So no shock value at all...Made me enjoy the movie even more...The laughs were not confined to just a couple of scenes either...From the time the movie started to the very end....even through the end credits....you were laughing...The Actors really let there Comedic side Show....
So no this was not a great Story or Academy award type movie, but one that will make you laugh and when you leave the theater you will still be thinking of the scenes and how funny they were...We have a friend who is the biggest tightwad in the USA...Getting him to pay to go to the movie once was like pulling teeth...He paid to see it a second time...I don't know what the critics were thinking...Beats alot of the movies they give two thumbs up...JMHO...
