    Default Raagini Indian Bistro

I was getting my oil changed at the Fast Lane location on Penn, across from Home Depot and noticed a new building just to the East of Fast Lane. I asked the guy there if he knew what was going in and he said it was going to be a Chinese restaurant. I came home and did a county assessor search and came up with a corporation that seems to be the parent company of Raagini Indian Bistro restaurants. Does anyone know anything about this chain or about this location?

Just this past Saturday my wife and I were trying India Heritage on Broadway and saying we wish there was an Indian restaurant closer to us (Quail Springs area). Maybe we will get our wish.

Their menu hits all the right spots (a bit on the pricy side per dish though). Would be nice to have an Indian joint close enough to visit on my lunch break. Any idea if they do buffet? I'm way too indecisive to pick one dish and call it a night when it comes to Indian.

I'm not even sure if this is the same company but I'm hoping. The guy at Fast Lane distinctly said "Chinese" but who knows? I've never been to an Indian restaurant that wasn't buffet so a menu-only restaurant doesn't really appeal to me either.

Hopefully someone here will have some insight into this project. The building looked complete from the outside so I'm guessing they will be putting up signage very soon. Whatever is going there has some confidence behind it because that building is quite large.

Can we please get an Indian restaurant that isn't a f$@&ing buffet, please?? can anyone who's ate Chinese or Indian outside this region chime in please?? The best types are family style. Can't decide? Bring some people, order, and SHARE. I don't even think goppouram has a menu anymore. I saw heritage try menus for about a week until I went back for a second trip and there's the steam table with the vat of ubiquitous (underwhelming tasting by popular demand) tikka masala, veg korma, biryani, chicken tandoor...this food, NO food is meant to be served like that.

The building nearing completion directly east of Fast Lane is Fuze Buffet:

It's been a few years but last time I was at Ajanta it was menu only and I know Himilaya's has the option of buffet or menu.

Every Indian restaurant I've eaten at outside of Oklahoma was a menu restaurant. When it comes to food, a lot of people in OKC value quantity over quality and restaurants simply respond to the popular demand. This happened recently at my favorite sushi restaurant when they decided to make the rolls bigger, sacrificing the flavor and everything that made them good. The restaurant is now packed out because that is what people here like. Needless to say I won't be back to that restaurant.

I'll have to check them out.

That's disappointing. We quit eating at the Quail area China King quite awhile ago. The quality just kept getting worse and worse. I was secretly hoping it might actually be a northside Hibachi Grill. The Chinese buffet there is average at best but they have the best buffet sushi I've tried and their Mongolian BBQ is also pretty decent.

Just FYI, Fuze is the restaurant in question and it will have a very broad offering other than just Asian items.

Follow the link I posted for more info.

Most of the ones I went to in Oregon were hybrid buffet/menu, or were menu-only at night with a lunch buffet.

Misal in Norman has a menu, at least when I've been for dinner (I don't know about lunch). It's one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the metro.

Same with Taste of India on the East side of Norman. I think both have a small buffet for lunch for those in a hurry. Misal is better than Taste of India though.

No it's not. Both are atrocious and don't even come close to actual Indian food. They dress up food to make it look Indian because that's what their clientele want. No actual Indian person eats there.

The most authentic place in the city is probably Rasoi, the small no-frills vegetarian restaurant run by Spices of India. But it's vegetarian and it's not a buffet, so it probably doesn't even register as a restaurant here. But they serve actual Indian food, not the filth Misal calls "Indian."

Can you tell us really how you feel about these places and don't sugar coat for us.

I second that the Chaat cafe at spices of India is legit. But ordering can be confusing and its veggie. But I can appreciate that. What I cant appreciate is Hindi cooks making meat dishes and never tasting their own food. Kabob n Curry and sheesh mjal are Pakistani but serve Punjab region foods. And I love them both but what I'm craving is a place with a real gas fired tandoor, vindaloo, balti, onion baji, all the good stuff. An authentic garlic naan right out of the clay oven will change your life. Then bring raita and chutneys to the party. God, I might have to make a trip to Dallas for lunch next week.

Ajanta is menu. At least for dinner. And their food is awesome.

My friend and I went to Rasoi a year or so ago. her food tasted scortched / burned and mine was swimming in oil so much that it made my stomach turn. One of the worst dining experiences we have had. We will never be back, and I am in Spices occasionally for pantry supplies.

Too bad. I'd give it another shot. Anyone can have a bad day. I haven't been in about a month or so - will go again soon to make sure they're still up to snuff. No excuse to not get the taste right. As far as the oil content - that's sadly one of the main issues with Indian restaurants anywhere.

I eat Indian a lot, and never had it be that oily. I literally was soaking it up with napkins.
