Wednesday Outdoor Movies at Myriad Gardens
I didn't see a message thread on this so I thought I'd post this simply report under Arts & Entertainment.
I attended last night's showing of "Forrest Gump" on the Myriad Gardens Great Lawn, and it was a huge success. The large crowd brought blankets, chairs and a few low tables, there were food trucks and concession vendors, and people ranged in age from toddlers to seniors in their 70s (if not older). The rear projection screen was in the band shell framed by two very adequate speakers. A window washing platform was working the side of the Devon Tower (working on the lights?), and that provided some visual interest. And not a single bug bite reported by anyone in our group.
Who would have thought 10 years ago that such an event could ever happen here? An outdoor lawn entirely covered with people on a Wednesday evening who were there to watch a 2-1/2 hour move that didn't end until 11:30?
What a great evening. If you weren't there you really missed a beautiful night.
