There are a lot of, well maybe not a LOT, but there are SOME communities that have recycling bins at every home aren't there? Does the metro area have that or are all the recycling facilities independent from the cities/state? I woulld really like to recycle but I guess not enough to save up all my stuff and drive it to a facility. I have a lot of school papers I could recycle, a lot of beer cans I could recycle.....

I want to be a good samaritan! Anybody?

I would also like to propose a day on which no OKCTalk member uses an appliance... microwave, toaster, washer, dryer, blowdryer, etc. It seems just this small group doing that for one day could make an impact but think of the impact it would make if people across the nation did it, or even across the world. There is a National Underwear Day, why can't there be a day for this?

National Underwear Day sounds like almost as much fun as International Talk Like a Pirate Day (September 19th).

I know that OKC does have a recycling program. As a matter of fact, if you pay an OKC water bill, then you are entitled to a blue recycle bin. You can put newspapers, plastic bottles, and a variety of other things in there. Just go to City of Oklahoma City | News (http://www.okc.gov)., and you will find a list of things that the City will take.

The City also takes old paint, insecticides, and chemicals at their hazardous waste facility at SW.15th and Portland. Again, if you go to the city website, it will list the items that they will take.

Also, there are some schools around the city that have big blue dumpsters in their parking lots that are exclusively used for recycling papers. Whatever you put in those blue recycle dumpsters will benefit that certain school.

If you have old school papers, or just any type of paper in general, drive by your local school in Moore and see if they have one of those green and yellow Dumpsters for recycling paper.

I'm not sure how much $$$ the school/school system gets, but no matter what, you're still recycling.

There are many churches that have the same dumpsters as well.

Call the people who pick up your garbage or water/sewer.. they will give you these cute little blue bins.. have fun! In the meantime.. here's a few places I found for those who want to waste $10 bucks in gas to turn in $5 of cans.. ha,ha.. just kidding.. recycling is great!!!
