They show that Primo's is going in there. Are they moving their Yukon location, or will it be an additional one? It seems like that would be 2 of them awfully close together...

I'm betting on an additional one....

It seems like that would be 2 of them awfully close together...

Your point? I think there will be enough people at the mall to justify it.

It is almost seven miles from the current location, given how busy the yukon one is it would be a risk to ask your customer base you have built up over many years to drive that far out of their way when their are already other italian options in yukon and you only have 3 total locations. The area area of the shop while does have some yukon customers is predominately from other cities so adding a new one seems the better idea.

There's not any Italian food places in the area now, they will do fine. I personally would rather have a Carrinos but I eat at Primos every now and then and will continue. Especially with an option closer than Yukon.

May not be any closer for you but doesn't Primo's have a couple of other locations? Think over by Tinker and another on SW 74th access road?

That indeed they do! It's an exclusive line, called One Star. Whereas The common is ALL Star. looks good and a bit leseer priced at TARGET. They even have the latest cool slip on canvas tennis shoe that still has the the shoe lace grommets, but no shoe laces.

An interesting article on Outlet shopping. I'm really surprised that Nordstrom isn't placing a Nordstrom Rack in the OKC area. It would fit well in the Norman or Quail Springs area.

You might want to consider that the mall isn't finished yet before making final comparisons.

While they are not finished with construction they are sticking close enough to the conceptual artwork I am not expecting a drastic improvement.

I have no problem with either the conceptual artwork or the current look. It's an outlet mall afterall. Everyone will have different ideas about what design is appropriate. My main concern is that it is successful and contributes to OKC's economy.

The grand opening is going to be busy anyway. Now possibly add the sales tax holiday traffic and this place will be packed!!!:kicking:

I hope they have taken care of the flooding situation at Council and Reno.

And I drove through this area recently. There will be three stop lights within a two-block area!!! The stoplight handling I-40 on/off traffic, the new stoplight in the old Wendy's location that will be handle traffic coming from the mall, and the stoplight at Reno and Council. This area will be congested at times.

And after thinking about it...the best situation for this mall would be to have grand opening the weekend before the sales tax holiday. Grand opening will be packed whenever it takes place. But then the next weekend could still be an overflow crowd if it is the sales tax weekend.

No 'will be' about it. Construction has had it snarled for weeks and I imagine that will turn permanent soon enough. Time for me to find a new way out of my hood, like out and back to Morgan Rd. or something.

Drove by this location on Monday. There is some work being done on the median on Reno. It looks like there is drainage improvements being done. Concrete has been added to the drainage where previously there was only natural drainage. I hope it gets the water out of the area faster.

Anyone see the traffic lights at Reno & Council? There is a set of stoplights (brand new) hanging over the westbound traffic (north side of Reno), which is facing the eastbound traffic. It is facing the right direction, but the signal is completely on the wrong side of the road.

Their are some contractors that will face it the wrong way to indicate that it has not been finished installing making it more clear to ignore yet but not all of them do that. Though with all the construction on Reno it may mean they will be reversing traffic flow by cutting it down to one lane each direction on that section temporarily.

Double Edge
04-27-2011, 10:43 AM
I see what you mean. It makes no sense even if the lights are faced the wrong way temporarily now. The new post is located on the east side of the intersection of the west bound lane. Normally it would be on the west side, across the intersection from the stopping point of westbound traffic, where the lights controlling west bound traffic are now. As it is, even if they rotate the lights to face westbound traffic, you won't be able to see the new lights if you are the first in-line at the intersection because they will be over your head or behind you.

Strange indeed.

The only way that is not a complete mistake is if they will be shifting eastbound traffic onto what is normally the left westbound lane for the several months, given they have been doing a lot of construction work on reno in that area that is what I expect it is.

One turning lane, two through lanes? They would need to widen that side of Reno to 4 lanes at the intersection. Maybe their trying to keep two lanes going eastbound.

This makes me recall, several years ago when the interchange with I-40, I-35, & I-235 was being reconstructed that (while driving eastbound on I-40) that my wife thought that a huge piece of highway construction, south of I-40, was counter-clockwise turning to the north but then just flat STOPPED and went nowhere. I still kid her about it. Of course, when construction was done, it continued its motion and crossed over I-40 and stuff ...

Larry OKC
04-28-2011, 12:57 AM
I can understand the reasoning here and what makes the most since is until they are fully operational, to have them facing other directions. What gets me is the multiple places around town where the number of signals don't match up with the number of lanes (sometimes too many, sometimes too few) and they have been that way for years. Just as a single lane that has 3 signals. it probably all evens out but probably a case of the installer just following the work order (not his job to question it).

exvagabond
05-03-2011, 03:28 PM
Looks like they're adding 2 turn lanes on all 4 sides, leaving 2 straight through lanes & on the west bound adding a right turn lane. I just wish they'd do something about Reno & Rockwell. Whoever the City Traffic Engineer is who designed that with all the (*$#_#*%^% lights there set on timers on merging lanes & tons of traffic needs to suffer through it every day. All day. While being beaten with a stick.

What is that which is being built on the northeast corner at Council and Melrose? Is it a school or a church? I haven't been by there in awhile so there isn't any more info on which to base my guess. The last I saw of it was the frame structure.
