Several months ago I posted wondering about locations for a glassblowing studio. Many thanks to those with suggestions.
I have moved the glassblowing studio to 11th and Western in Oklahoma City. It is at 1218-C N. Western Ave. Rick and Tracey Bewley are opening a glass fusing studio there (1218-B) along with an art gallery (1218-A) headed by Stephen Kovash. The building will be known as Urban Art and I will maintain the glassblowing studio as Blue Sage Studios. Renovations are occurring to the building and I expect to be fully operational again in a couple of weeks. I hope to have an open house and ice cream social on Memorial weekend. Everyone is invited and I will keep you up to date.

Schedule of Events at BlueSage Studios

We will be offering an introductory hot glass classes on a regular basis through the Oklahoma City Museum of Art (http://www.okcmoa.com/). Classes will cover the basics of hot glass work and students in this session will have the opportunity to make a a variety of glass pieces. Typically, a Saturday session class will last about five weeks at four hours a day. The class is limited to four students, visit the OKCMOA web site (http://www.okcmoa.com/) to see when our next class will be offered. We will be hosting a course this fall offered through the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.

When blowing glass it is important to be safe. All clothing needs to be natural materials, no synthetics please. Proper dress for the session should include: heavy closed toe shoes, long sleeve over shirt, short sleeve undershirt, long pants, and bandana or ball cap. Be sure to bring a bottle of water.

Thanks for the info Karried. I guess my question still to you aboatman, is that I didn't see any information on the OKCMOA website about current or upcoming glassblowing classes, can you share more information?

I know Blue Sage has done classes at the Museum in the past. The Class Schedule for this summer does not list a glass blowing class. You might call the Museum (236-3100) and find out if they are going to offer anything this fall.

gmwise, all of us have lives offline. What I think she was meaning is that with only a quick intro and a few posts, we haven't really gotten to know the guy, that's all. BTW, aboatman, the pictures linked on your site are pretty cool. It's an interesting art that would be fun to try (hence the requests concerning classes).

It appears that the Urban Art building is coming together quickly. Word is they'll be having some great parties soon. It looks like Andy keeps his weblog (http://bluesagestudios.blogspot.com/) fairly updated with the recent news.
