In the past 3-4 weeks, we have been teaching our students at church the importance of serving others, and not expecting anything in return. Today, they got the opportunity to visit and to serve at the Grace Rescue Mission. They got a real eye opener, seeing just exactly how the life of a homeless person really is.
Now, these aren't the people that panhandle at the intersections. These are the people that are trying to get back on their feet, and even though they do get a free meal three times a day, they have to do things at the mission in order to continue staying there.
If they are caught with drugs or alcohol, then they are automatically sent away for good.
I was very impressed with how organized they were, and the great work that they do, ministering to the needy. Many churches in the area donate weekly to the Mission, including ours.
Today, the students got a real up close look at what goes on in a homeless shelter, and they learned how to serve others.

All in all, this was a great experience for all the students and the sponsors. It showed many of the students that they are blessed with what they have.
