I'm very excited about this! I have several pair and love them, and love visiting the store in Santa Fe, NM each time we go.

Probably a full-line store. Would be a nice get to kick-start downtown OKC retail. I know plenty of people who spend BIG money on boots. Not for me, but this is a big market in OKC.
MagzOK 03-02-2022, 06:15 PM Their website says they have a store at the outlet mall. Will this store be different?
There is one at the outlet mall. It's hard to find anything there that's worthwhile. And while they are slightly defective in some way, there's not much discount on them.
Jeepnokc 03-02-2022, 07:27 PM I was told today by someone with building physical management that their first apartment tenant is moving in Friday.

This is the retailer I hinted at some time back. There are a couple of other very nice (and location-appropriate) locally-oriented stores going in. One is a very well-known local store, but since I’m not sure it’s been announced yet I don’t feel it’s my place to name it. Lucchese is the splashy one.
I was in the building yesterday for the first time in several weeks and among other things can share that the barber shop is much further along in buildout and looks fantastic, and also that the kitchen behind Tellers was up and running and testing menu items.
Urbanized 03-03-2022, 09:10 AM Urbanized (I finally was able to read through all of your posts not just the quote from Panda :)). I think we are saying the same thing. But you keep saying Ruth's and I (and Panda) aren't talking about that. I agree OKC does need a Ruth's somewhere else in the city like at Classen Curve, Deep Deuce, or Oak.
What I am saying is I am not aware of the offerings 1st National announced so far - so I will wait until they open. But that this building (and Park Ave) deserves to be the prime of the city, at least have a national upscale name or better to show off OKC; be THE spot to be at - as it likely would be the only locaiton in the state equal to or surpassing other major cities offering. Again, I'm not talking Ruth's or even a steakhouse since we have so many already, but something monster upscale national in another food genre (like Seafood, Continental fine dining, or Italian) that OKC (and OK) doesn't already have. ..
Where we seem to disagree is whether or not a national chain would be better for this particular location than concepts developed by Apicci with the involvement of a Michelin starred chef. I prefer the latter. I think a chain here would have lacked the uniqueness this space deserves. Did you click on the link I provided (https://www.apicii.com/projects) and check out Apicci’s other concepts?

with the exception of Prime steak houses (which OKC has plenty of) great local fine dining is almost always better then the high end chains
would i like a Morton's / Del frisco / capital grill sure but i would rather have more great local spots ..

1000%. That’s also what makes a city more interesting for discerning locals and visitors. And the bonus here is that these places are being dreamed up and executed by experts with international standing. That’s a very rare thing in a mid-sized city.
We’re already pretty darned lucky to have to have local groups like Good Egg (in spite of the disparagement upthread), 84 Hospitality and others, and even a fair number of local places that have garnered national attention in recent years. But we don’t have anyone who’s doing what Apicci is doing nationally (and internationally). This approach is FAR more imaginative than plopping a cookie cutter national chain into this unique location.

I'm looking forward to moving into FNC on 3/25. From that link it looks like the restaurant (Jaya) at the Setai Hotel in Miami Beach is one of their projects. Been there a few times. Really cool open-air vibe, live entertainment & good food (mostly Asian but they also have filets, ribeyes, and NY strips). Took this picture there.
At first, I was disappointed when Ruth's Chis backed out, but now I agree that it's probably a blessing to have something more unique.

Urban, this is super exciting but did you click through the link about First National on Apicii's website? It describes First National as a "$1 million mixed-use hotel and residential property." LOL. What a dump the First National must be. You couldn't erect a Super 8 for that.
Seriously, though, perhaps someone at First National can request a copy edit from Apicii.

king183 03-19-2022, 02:08 PM I just toured First National during an open house today and I am at a loss for words to describe how stunning it is. I am absolutely blown away by the work Gary Brooks and team have done to meticulously restore the building. When you get a chance to see it, you must. There is nothing like this in the state.
This will be one of the most photographed placed in Oklahoma for social media, especially for those visiting from out of town and staying at the hotel. It’s going to give a really nice, new view of what OKC is like for people who aren’t from here.

Can you tell me what procedure you went through to get a tour? Is a tour open to the public?
Urbanized 03-21-2022, 04:23 PM If you follow them on Facebook they are offering open invitations there when they have open houses: www.facebook.com/thefirstokc/ If you aren't truly interested in leasing but instead simply interested in seeing the place, I would think this would be the most considerate approach.
If you are legitimately interested in leasing you could reach out to their leasing team via their website: https://thefirstokc.com/

I showed up at the open house this past weekend. They showed us a couple apartment units and then took us on a tour of the restaurant and bar space.
Urbanized 03-21-2022, 05:39 PM ^^^^^^^^^
And again, the best way to know about open houses is to watch for them to be publicized on the official social media connected to the apartment portion of the building. I'd expect them to be happening on most weekends at this point, at least until the building is substantially leased up.
David 03-22-2022, 12:01 PM They have another one listed on their Facebook page this Saturday the 26th from 11 to 1.
Wanted to quickly put these up; I'll be doing a full write-up and posting it this evening.
Basic info:

Tellers restaurant in the Great Banking Hall will open for dinner only starting April 7th
The large bar in the Great Banking Hall will open April 12th

catcherinthewry 03-22-2022, 05:13 PM Spectacular!
HangryHippo 03-22-2022, 05:19 PM Gorgeous. And so “big city”.
Almost no one under 40 has even seen the inside of this building.
It's like a museum... Every inch of it.
They've kept so much: the original teller windows, glass mail drops, drinking fountains, floors, murals, light fixtures, fresco ceilings, elevator doors, interior doors... On and on and on.
I had a bit of an emotional moment because I actually interviewed at the bank as a senior in college in 1982, which was to be their last management trainee class, but then they pulled the plug and a few years later, the entire bank collapsed after many decades. And not long after that, the entire building was effectively shut down.
I ended up taking another job downtown in the 80's and loved walking the arcade on the first floor with Harold's, Orbach's and other retail. It was like the downtown OKC version of walking a high school hall; I would see so many people I went to OU with.
I banked there until the bitter end. I was probably one of the last people to use the Great Banking Hall so it was really cool to see it renewed and better than ever.
There is simply no other place like this in the state. It will be the first place I take any visitors. And as I said, there is a huge percentage of people here who have never even been inside.

Great pics Pete! Some how this turned out even better than I ever expected it to. Similar to you, I used to take friends, family and business colleagues from out of town (or those who lived here and like you said, had no idea it existed) on a tour of it whenever taking them out downtown. Everyone was always shocked and blown away by it even back then. People, especially those who’ve never seen it in the first place, are going to be stunned and in awe when they walk up those stairs now. Even I have trouble believing that this is in the middle of Oklahoma at times.

We had discussed the windows before...
They kept everything original but all the spaces I saw had clear, sealed storm windows on the inside. You barely notice them as they have very thin bezels, so the original look is very much preserved.
Also, the entire complex is a beehive of activity, with ongoing construction and the restaurant, bar, hotel, and apartment staff all buzzing around trying to finish everything up and get ready for opening. There are three completely separate groups of employees (not counting construction): food and beverage, hotel, and apartments. They all work for separate companies: Apicii, Coury Hospitality, and NE Development respectively.

There is a valet/baggage room just south of the Robinson entrance in what was the Tinder Box space. You come up the escalator to the Great Banking Hall and then the hotel desks are on the far west end with windows overlooking Robinson.
The check-in area is to the left of the first photo.
And there are separate elevators for the hotel and apartments.

First National Center is ready for its closeup (https://www.okctalk.com/content.php?r=776-First-National-Center-is-ready-for-its-closeup)
After years of being completely shuttered and a comprehensive top-to-bottom restoration, First National Center – originally opened in 1931 in the heart of downtown – is coming back to life.
http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/fnc032222b.jpg
The Great Banking Hall
The complex will function as three separate spaces: the public and shared common areas in the basement, first and second floors; the National Hotel on floors 3 through 13; and the Residences at First National comprising floors 14 through 32. There is also an attached parking garage with 620 spaces.
Throughout, most of the intricate and beautiful details have been preserved: marble flooring and columns, huge wall murals, ornate ceilings, Art Deco metalwork (inside and on the building's exterior), teller windows, glass and brass mail chutes, drinking fountains, interior doors, and on and on.
With historic details at every turn, the entire complex is a working museum.
Common Areas: Restaurants, Bars, Retail
Step off Robinson Avenue and through the revolving doors and you'll be looking square at escalators that access arguably the most beautiful interior space in the state of Oklahoma: the Great Banking Hall.

They've already been doing that. Typically, the lights are all blue when the Thunder plays at home, for example.
The system has the ability to be just about any color, and the banks of lights can be programmed independently.

A couple of questions. Pete - were you able to get some pics from the Beacon Club? I have fond memories from up there and would love to see how that space turned out.
Do you know if they will light up the beacon at the top? That (to me anyway) is the unique feature of this building, a 'spinning' aviation beacon that no other building in the state (maybe even region) has. I know the lighting hits the upper floors and pinacle but the spinning beacon would be the cherry on the top (and could/should continue to run at night after the other lights turn off).
^
The old Beacon Club is now an apartment.
Not sure about the beacon itself.

How that would be an impressive apartment!

Funny. On the last picture it took me a second to figure out where that was and what building I was looking at. Major improvement by bank first there.
HOT ROD 03-25-2022, 04:55 PM Pete, would love to see it. a 3-storey pinnacle apartment 450+ feet up. WOW!!!

Urbanized 04-02-2022, 08:05 AM I’ve been fortunate enough to be a guest for dinner the past couple of nights at Tellers and all I can say is wow. So far for me the highlight has been the yellowfin tuna, but I haven’t had a single item that wasn’t pretty special. The tuna was the single best entree I’ve eaten in recent memory. The ambiance is like few if any restaurants in the U.S..
I have enjoyed quite a few conversations with Apicii’s V.P. of Operations at this point, and even their NYC-based team is somewhat mindblown by the space they’re in. He compared it favorably to Grand Central Terminal, saying that is one of the few buildings in the U.S. that invites comparison.
This building (and the F&B options, as they come online) puts OKC in some rare air that I think we don’t yet fully appreciate.
