I ate at Othello's the other night. Pretty much a joke. I'll do a review in the food court later.

Hopefully this restaurant will survive in the Oklahoma Hardware Building. Like you've said, other famous names like Da Boat have failed there.

So I'm guessing you don't think it has a chance?

Problem is, Spaghetti Warehouse and Zios are pretty strong competitors.

Thats what I was saying Patrick, Othellos is pretty much known as an Italian resteraunt. We already have two italian resteraunts in Bricktown. Its tough enough for two to survive. I have a hard time believing all three of these will be able to stay open. We REALLY need some diversity...I'm looking foreward to melting pot opening!

I know some of you arn't in favor of chains in Bricktown, but I bet a Fridays would do pretty good down in Bricktown.... I've seen Fridays do well in other entertainment districts around the nation..

I would really like to see a Chipotle in the Nothing But Noodles/Rio del Fuego space.

There was an Art Gallery in the Oklahoma Hardware space when the canal first opened. I didn't figure it would last long.

I personally miss the old Bricktown Antique shop that used to fill space now filled by City Walk. Had a nice Guthrie feel to it.

I'm not sure that fits Bricktown very well though, Patrick.

I like the Fridays idea.....That would go over really well in Bricktown.

Please PM me with constructive criticism, I need to know what to do to make the restaurant better or at least not a joke. Thanks.

Everyone please let me know what your experience was like...

Must've been a fluke. I frequent the Campus Corner and Edmond stores fairly often and enjoyed the Ed Noble store while it was there. Only problem I've ever had was an over-cooked steak, but Meatball took care of that for me. I'm curious, too, about the bad experience...

I'll be in soon, probably tonight before the Hornets play.

Metro's concerns are very important to us and as soon as he had expressed them, I knew exactly what night he was there. I will admit there was one night in which everything crashed. We were experiencing severe electrical problems which was shutting off the soda fountains as well as many of the kitchen's appliances. Because of this our operation as a whole was less than adequate to say the least. As we are still a new restaurant in a new place we are learning and growing.

I would ask everyone out there if you come to Othello's and have a problem please let me know so that we can rectify it.

I would like to thank Metro for his response and let everyone know there are going to be some problems...there always are in new restaurants...but we will work very hard to get them corrected and make your experience as pleasurable as possible.

inferno seemed genuinely interested in my concerns in his PM. Like I mentioned, I hope it was a fluke and their menu diversifies. You are welcome for my thoughts inferno911 and hopefully you will rectify the situation.

I drove by Al Eichbach's yesterday. It says NOW OPEN although there is no permanent sign installed on the building, yet.

Where in Bricktown is Othello's and what do they serve? It's sounds Italian or Mediterranean.

I was by Da Boat a lot, playing Maker's. It was never busy. They'd always have a few people in there but never a crowd. During the summer when they had the band outside I'd walk by, going to work, and see virtually only beer sales. Few, if any, tables would have food. A lot of people would just hang around and listen. I heard the food was very good.

I was there the day they put the locks on the doors. They owed about $40,000 in rent, and around $4,000 in utilities. It was posted on the door and over a 3 month period.

prune...Othello's is Italian and it is in the old Daddy Hinkles restaurant above Bourbon Street

Prune, this is the same Othello's that has a location on Campus Corner in Norman and one in Downtown Edmond.

Speaking of, I heard some more bad reviews of Othello's. Apparently the Bricktown location doesn't even have their famous pizza.

It is correct that Othello's Bricktown does not have pizza, much to all of our dismay. The building that we are in could not sustain our stone pizza ovens, so we were forced to do without. I am as horrified as anyone, first Pizza's were a huge part of our business and I am not able to personally enjoy a pie either.

For what it is worth...

The menu is evolving and charging as we find ways to move in new equipment. Who knows

That's too bad to hear. As you can see in my review in the Food Court. I wasn't too impressed. I hate to see another restaurant in Bricktown go under. Hopefully it won't.

Daddy Hinkle's is gone?

J. Franks/Daddy Hinkles is supposed to reopen in a smaller location.

You're partially right jbrown, according to the Journal Record, J. Frank's bar is supposed to reopen in a smaller location with a more limited menu. I think the Daddy Hinkles name has been removed from the official name.

Yes, but for prunepicker's sake, I'm sure it will be basically the same restaurant.

True, on another note. I drove by Al Eichbach's and they now have the signs up. I took pictures and will post them in my gallery later today. Also another thing of note. I remember Hogan saying that the old Rio del Fuego spot would be occupied by another new restaurant by Christmas. Well the old RDF sign is up and no activity is going on. Another disappointment.

I mentioned this in another thread, but I think Bricktown restaurants need more culture. I would like to see a really nice Thai, Basque or European style restaurant or cuisine. We have too many Italian, Mexican, Barbeque, Sports Grill type establishments. It's so dull and unoriginal.

I know this has been mentioned many times before, but Bricktown needs a Dave & Buster typ of place.

Al's is so bad, it's almost like the staff is paid to run customers off. During the Big 12 tourney I felt like I had to apologize to the out-of-towners because the service at Al's was embarrassing to Bricktown. I wonder what will be in that location when Al's closes?

I put this in another thread, but I'll say it again because I like to hear my keys clicking...

Dave & Busters. Not sure if the city is quite big enough, but I've been in several of them, and they're damn fun. GREAT food and a MASSIVE beer selection. Perfect places for large (company or otherwise) gatherings too.

Never been to one. Does it require a big box, or could it go in one of the Bricktown warehouses?

I've seen them in both...But they're pretty big.

I still think we need more culture in Bricktown. I don't like the idea of chains populating Bricktown, but I'll make an exception for D&B.

Oh GAWD the Smell!

Same here...I usually don't like chains in areas like Bricktown, but D&B? They'd get mucho $$$ out of my wallet fairly frequently.

What if a local place were to create a D&B type of place? That way it would be local but you could get the same atmosphere.

Don't know if it's possible...But if the quality of food, games, and pool tables (the always have the BEST tables and plenty of room to use them) I wouldn't care what name was on the sign.

Oh, and I've rarely seen D&B's equal on beer selection, even if most of it isn't on tap. San Diego Brewery comes to mind as one that had them beat...Tapwerks is up there too.

Speaking of Tapwerks...My buddy here at work said it was sold to new owners with ties to the old Split T

Only thing they need is better refrigerators for the kegs...I know true beer guys don't need their beer cold, but if I'm paying $7 per glass I want that thing as cold as possible

Warm beer starts to get to me after a while

It's funny I was just at TapWerks this weekend and had the same comment... I was surprised that the beer was as warm as it was. It was still cool, just not as chilly as I thought it should be.
