We should be making our move to OKC by mid August. I know... hell of a time to move.
Anyway... I was wondering who the electric/gas company is up there, and what does it take to cool an average 2 bedroom home?

Oklahoma Gas and Electric - aka - OG&E
In the heat of the summer, with central heat and air, ours runs about $200 a month for a 1500 sf house. 50 yr old house, wood frame, fairly well-insulated.
We keep the thermostat about 76. Ceiling fans help!
Outside of metro area, they do have other power companies, but I have no idea if the rates are comparable.

I have central heat and air in a 900 square ft house.....small three bedroom, and my bill runs around $125.00. I keep the thermostat at 76, and keep my ceiling fans going 24/7. Even on the hottest days, we have been very comfortable.

Depends on the construction of your house, shade coverage, insulation, etc. Too many variables to tell.

My house is around 2200 square feet, and was built in the late 70's. Our electric bill averages over $300 a month. Hopefully that will go down as we are remodeling and updating to meet current energy standards.
One bit of advise. When you are eligable, take advantage of OG&E's rate avergaing plan. It may save you money.

A couple of area cities - Edmond and Tecumseh - don't get service from OG&E; they own their own grids, and buy from the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority.
