Hey fellow OKCTalk members. Are you interested in a moderator position at OKCTalk? Would you like to take an active part in the operations that go on here? Interested in helping us market this site? Want to know more about becoming part of the leadership team here at OKCTalk? Interested in becoming an investor at OKCTalk?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, we'd love to have you come meet us! Todd, Keith, OklaCity_75, and I are going to be meeting this Saturday March 11th, at 7PM at Ninos on NW Expressway, just west of MacArthur. If you're interested in joining the leadership team at OKCTalk, come join us to hear more about upcoming plans for the site, and general operations discussion.

Anyone with an interest is welcome. The only requirement is that you're an active participant on OKCTalk.

Perhaps if you explain what a moderator is supposed to do, then more people would be interested? Right now, it seems to be a little unclear.

Duties/responsibilites/perks????

Above is one example of what moderators do: Delete inappropriate reported posts.

Members who have problems with the moderators should try to work it out in private via PM. It's a personal issue between the parties involved. Disputes such as this shouldn't be aired on a public message board.

"Moderators oversee specific forums. They generally have the ability to edit and delete posts, move threads, and perform other manipulations. Becoming a moderator for a specific forum is usually rewarded to users who are particularly helpful and knowledgeable in the subject of the forum they are moderating."

We also attend meetings, last night I was unable to attend but have in the past and will again in the near future.

sweetdaisy, I think you brink up some good points. We will try to put together a list of responsibilities/duties. In regards to perks, there aren't any. It's basically a volunteer position.

For the most part, a moderator's responsiblity is to read the posts and make sure things stay civil. When things get out of hand, it becomes the moderator's responsibility to close threads, give warnings, follow the disciplinary policy, enforce the TOS, etc. A moderator should also try to keep threads on topic, although sometimes that's impossible.

Also mods meet with Todd once every few months or so to discuss new features, happenings, etc. For example, last night we discussed what we're planning on doing for the upcoming 2nd year anniversary of OKCTalk.
Mods are involved in helping Todd come up with ways to keep the site running financially. Mods also help promote contests!

We'll come up with an official list of expected mod duties soon.
