Looks like I'm posting 2 hrs too late but its so hard to find out when these groups meet, just like OCURA, they rarely advertise their meetings to the public

Any idea what the meeting concerns? New proposals?

Did anybody go to the meeting? If so what was it about?

I didn't go but it was mainly to decide the new proposal for the Hampton Inn

The next meeting is tomorrow. If you can make it please go voice your concerns about Bricktown and Lower Bricktown.

III-A. BCA‑05-013, at 214-218 E Main St. Consideration and possible action on an application for a Bricktown Certificate of Approval by Rob Holloway, for Rob Roberts, to (4) change brick on parapet.



III-B. BCA‑06-002, at 224 E Main St. Consideration and possible action on an application for a Bricktown Certificate of Approval by Sam L. Gresham, for Al Sahli, to (1) add windows; and (2) change corner entry.



III-C. BCA‑06-003, at 222 E Sheridan Ave. Consideration and possible action on an application for a Bricktown Certificate of Approval by Ben L. Randolph, Wave Omnimedia LLC, for Power Alley Parking, to project images on the west side of the parking garage.



III-D. BCA‑05-014, at BNSF RR, both sides from Reno Ave to north of Main St. Consideration and possible action on an application for a Bricktown Certificate of Approval by Don A. V. COMMUNICATIONS



V-A. On February 14, the City Council confirmed the Mayor’s reappointments of Committee members Pitman, Wilson, and Yoeckel, for two-year terms ending July 1, 2006.



V-B. Follow-up on approved applications.



V-C. Office Specialist Cindy Rhodes has replaced Carissa Davis, who has accepted permanent employment with a private firm.



V-D. The next regularly scheduled meeting for the Bricktown Urban Design Committee is Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at 9:00 a.m. (five weeks away). New applications and information on continued projects are to be submitted to staff by 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 29.



VI. ADJOURNMENT

Are these supposed to be open meetings, or is it a private organization that does not have to have open meetings?

If they are open meetings, they are supposed to have a time scheduled regularly for meetings, and they would have to post the agenda in a public place 24 hours in advance.

They can have special meetings even if they are governmental sponsored and supposed to be open meetings, but there are constrainsts to special meetings.

Conspicuous omission: the Urban Renewal Authority.

I have been to several meetings. The commission actually wants people to go. Its just that the time of day is hard for many people. I went and stood up against the I-HOP developer when they wanted to cover the brick on the building with a suburban drivet or ephis" facade. They also wanted to remove the historic existing windows and throw them away. Attending got the members quite excited and they took a stand and they turned I-HOP down. People can make a difference when they're arguments are selective and well constructed. I encourage all of you to go to these meetings when possible. However, Urban Renewal is an entirely different animal. I have heard many horror stories of people who were practically escorted out of the room as that group intentionally has historically not welcomed public input.

If it is a public meeting, they cannot do that---well! If one is disruptive or such maybe, but open metings are open to the public.

I hope this means they're going to do something about the hideous new paint job on the body shop on the east end of Bricktown. What an eyesore.

Unfortunately, attending one of these meetings doesn't address the problems we have with Lower Bricktown, since it isn't governed under this organization.

Agreed. But it is a start and could help further public awareness. Very few people from the public ever attended. Last time I attended I believe 8 people out of 1.2 million residents attended.
