Noticed this past week concrete barriers going up on NW 23rd, just west of May on the Taft grounds. I assume they are going to start construction on the demo of the older areas and then rebuilding. Looking at the county assessor, there doesn't appear to be any building permits lately, just ones for a cell tower a few years ago. I am sure Pete has more info to share.
Below is a presentation from boarddocs.com about the timeline and renderings.

They have built a ramp to replace the steps to the East side basement entrance, for ADA I suppose. I'm still wondering what other construction is taking place.

As part of the GO Bond, it is budgeted to rebuild the wings of the school and then reno the historic part of the school. They are starting on the area facing NW 23rd and when that's done, it they will work on the area facing May.

Looks like the whole west wing has been brought down now.
From the rendering above, I assume the new basketball area will be built as part on the space facing May? I can't really find any detailed renderings or layouts anywhere.

I found it on Hans' website, but it is just two renderings:

That’s not a renovation. It’s a bastardization.

In what way, if you don't mind me inquiring? I'm sure most of the school's infrastructure is either in disrepair or rendered structurally compromised. But I want to know what makes you feel that way, genuine curiosity.

At least they didn't tear the whole thing down and then put up a giant modern looking spaceship like Capitol Hill is doing. They are keeping most of the old architecture to the this building. It will remain a great looking building.
