View Full Version : New Convention Center Hotel (Tulsa)
Swake 11-08-2024, 01:22 PM Tulsa put out an RFP for a new 650 room flagship convention center hotel downtown next to the convention center. Proposals are due back by December 18th.
This is on the site of the Police Courts building which is the current headquarters for the Police and Fire Departments. They are moving to east Tulsa in 2025 in an old State Farm office site the city closed on yesterday. This would be the second convention center hotel at the Cox Center (after the 411 room DoubleTree) and the fourth hotel total at the site. Overall, 650 rooms would bring the convention center room count to 1,320.

^ This is probably a placeholder; however if this hotel tops 20 stories--it will be the largest and tallest
convention center hotel in the state. At 650 rooms it will top the OKC Omni by 45 luxury rooms.
Go T-Town.
bison34 11-08-2024, 03:05 PM OKC settled with the Omni. That's gives me pause on the arena and surrounding development.

LOL. Take that OKC.

River Spirit is a convention hotel and has 27 floors.

Totally forgot about the number of floors on River Spirit Casino Hotel. Tulsa will have some impressive hotels in her portfolio. We'll see the total height on the proposed 650 room convention center hotel when the specs are revealed. Hope it looks similar to the placeholder; this will add to the already impressive Tulsa skyline.
BG918 11-09-2024, 08:21 AM The rendering shows closer to 30 stories which would be around 400’ tall. Pretty close in height to 110 W 7th, the white building on the left and would be clearly visible from the river skyline angle west of University Club tower

Impressive if Tulsa keeps the height and design. Very breath-taking with the BOK Center in the background.

Great design, but obviously this is a conceptual design, I am sure it will change 2-3 times before if/when dirt is turned. With that being said, Tulsa is due for a new modern high rise.
G.Walker 11-09-2024, 01:49 PM OKC settled with the Omni. That's gives me pause on the arena and surrounding development.
Yes, OKC missed an opportunity to build something special, and they did settle with the lack luster Omni. If this Tulsa hotel design stands, its design surpasses the OKC Omni by a mile. The problem OKC failed to realize is you don't get do overs, and they missed the mark with the Omni. Even the BOK Center is light years ahead in design compared to the Paycom Center. Glad we have another chance with the new arena and surrounding area to try and get it right and build something special
Mississippi Blues 11-09-2024, 10:03 PM I think we’re past the point of buildings being considered good design just because they’re made entirely of glass. It’s fine for illustrative purposes but it’s not really a rendering that warrants anguishing over the design of our own convention center hotel.
It actually reminds me of the placeholder renderings for the OG&E tower around a decade ago.
Plutonic Panda 11-10-2024, 07:47 AM I really hope they keep that design and don’t value engineer it. It’d be even better if they added more height to it.
Laramie 11-10-2024, 09:33 AM Yes we fumbled the ball on the exterior of the Omni Convention Center Hotel; although it's much nicer with LED night lights.
We are getting an opportunity for a do-over on our arena--with interest rates being lowered on borrowing, could we see some surplus money that could add more amenities to the arena or could the surplus be used on the MAPS 4 Multipurpose Stadium expansion to reach 20,000.
Would love to see the new arena powered by wind energy if this could effectively be apart of the design.
OETA Oklahoma News Report, Sunday, November 3rd mentioned that the stadium could seat 12,000 - 13,000 spectators. Where did they get this info especially since the City's site has the stadium seating 8,000.
Also, I'm not sure OKC could support a NWSL (Women's) franchise along with a USL men's soccer; seems counter productive.
PhiAlpha 11-11-2024, 02:39 PM I like the exterior of the Omni…it’s different because it isn’t 100% glass.

very much agree
