Since this related more to Shinn and not the Hornets, I thought I'd post this in this forum. Several people have said here that Shinn might've bought his home more as an investment. He paid $385,000 for a home with a market value of $206,000. If he sells it, I bet he loses money. The previous owners paid $140,000 for the house backin 2000, but they completely renovated it.

"George and Denise Shinn bought property at 1224 Marlboro Lane, Nichols Hills Addition, Oklahoma City 73116-6221 for $385,000 from Sandra K. Giasson, Book 9896, Page 1,892."

Here are some pics of his home:

I though Shinn would've definately bought a nicer house being a multi millionaire and all?

Well, if he's going back to NO, like he says, it makes sense not to buy a larger home. This one will be easy to sell when he returns to NO. If he decides to stay here, he can always buy a larger home later.

As I said, he paid way over market value for that house.

How big is your house?

That is a stereotype. Most very wealthy people do not spend money like it was running water. I cite the founder of Wal-Mart, the late Sam Walton. He lived in a very modest house and drove an old pickup that looked like it was held together with duct tape, and dressed like a dirt farmer. He was worth 25 billion dollars when he died. So, just because a wealthy person buys a small home does not mean anything.

My money is STILL on them staying.

You guys. Really. I mean, I know that George Shinn is a public figure and everything, but do we need to be snooping around his house in public?

Edward L. Gaylord's house on Dorchester wasn't all that humongous by Nichols Hills standards either.

And you know, I'd rather have a modest house in a great area than a great house in a less-than-wonderful area, but maybe that's just me.

Mr. Walton was definitely in the minority. Sure not every wealthy person buys a big house and a nice car, but MOST probably do.
