Haha, I'm giving BG918 a hard time. Every time he says it might rain in OKC, it doesn't.

Well the key word is “might” rain  The cap was too strong across central OK and storms couldn’t backbuild south. Northern OK and the Tulsa area had some decent rain though.

Pawnee, northeast of Stillwater, got hardest hit Thursday night. A severe thunderstorm went through there with winds up to 75 mph. One person got killed, possibly while in a travel trailer. Pawnee public schools closed Friday. Pawnee got the heaviest rain at 2.22". What little back building there was didn't affect Stillwater.

The tropical storm next week will determine everything coming up.

The tropical storm next week will determine everything coming up.

In what way? If it goes east, what do we expect to happen? What if it fizzles? Goes west?

The temps are going to be quite a bit cooler next week, so I suspect a nice ridge in place to push that thing further east or possibly shear it to nothingness.

The possible tropical system would be in play after the high pressure behind the front shifts east. If it moves far enough and quick enough it could bring the system north through Texas. Lots of variables in the models so not really even worth seriously discussing until mid-next week

In the short term there is a good chance of rain/storms from the cold front statewide Sunday afternoon and evening. This will bring Near-perfect weather for several days next week

Not getting my hopes up about Sunday. Payne is going 100 percent but drought leads to more Drought. Looking at the latest Nam model it fires storm right along I-44. It's very possible West Metro misses out. GFS has the Hurricane hitting Mississippi and then moves it west into N texas. HUM

RAIN IS COMING. However some computer models don't have much rain coming. Some do.

HRRR coming in hot with .06 rain for the metro. SMH Looks like might be one of those deals like last cold front when looks look good out west than die off when it get close to the metro and than reforms east of the metro.

Yeah it’s just so dry that anything that gets close to central ok just dries out. It’s weird that NW Oklahoma has been the center of all the rain and storms this year. Granted, they tend to need it more than us. However, we really really need rain. It’s insane how dry it is for September

Great rains for the southern metro! Been pouring near Tinker for 30 minutes now.

No more posting about rain from you. Just post about other things and maybe we’ll continue to get water. lol

Glad lots got good rain. We’re up north and the storms split around us both times today. Sad days.

I should of said Oklahoma County instead of metro. But even so Edmond didn't get a ton of rain. Yukon .64 not bad. Guthrie Stillwater .31. Norman 4.74

It was the last day of the fair yesterday, so this amount of rain seems about right...

Looks like that hurricane is going to be pushing further east to Florida? Guess that means are rain chances are negligible?

I was hearing that after landfall some bands of rain may move back to the West and into Oklahoma.

HRRR shows storm forming between 8-10 pm and will quickly move south

Storm chances do appear to be increasing. Thinking 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. will be the main timeframe for the Metro. Large hail will be the primary threat, with a secondary threat of damaging winds.

Looks like SVR Watch coming for developing storms. Some could be supercell structure - so large hail main threat. Outside tornado threat.

Baseball-sized hail at NW 150th & Penn. Storm looks to be making a right turn to the SSE which would put it on track to hit Tinker and surrounding areas.

Decent lowering on this cell for how fast it has evolved. Explains the hail sizes.

It looks like it snowed in SE OKC, just south of Tinker. Hailed for 30 minutes.

Stillwater didn't get much of anything tonight other than an overhead popup shower that yielded .05". I take that over all the hail. KTUL-8 Tulsa weather segment ran photos of the hail in OKC. One photo showed a handful of hail backgrounded by a yard mostly covered by hail.

SEMIweather

There were hail drifts at NE 10th & I-35 when I drove through there about half an hour after the storm, and I don’t think that was even close to the areas that got hit the worst. It was quite a supercell for sure.

I mean, given where Oklahoma is, being top 2 or 3 will likely never change. Especially because of how friendly our insurance commissioner is with insurance companies.

And turn stationery. I marvel more at how the winds haven't been blowing hard for well over a month. Every day the winds seldom blow over 10 mph. But I guess that is normal for this time of year.

Another swing and a miss for a tropical system in Oklahoma. Just like Beryl and Francine we are about 400 miles too far west. The mid-South is also in a severe drought so this is beneficial rain for those areas.

Next 10 days look clear and dry with above-average temps. Our next system arrives around 10/10-11

Seems like years ago, when it got rainy, the rain amounts would be more equally distributed.

I agree even if that's purely anecdotal. For example during the past week midtown Tulsa had just over 2" while the airport only recorded 0.3". Examples of those kinds of varied totals across the state.

I know some of you all got some good rains but we really do need some good regionally soaking rain events. Kinda thinking our best bet is going to be some good snowfall events the winter. However, seeing as how snow is getting more and more rare around here, I don’t see that as a likely outcome.

Looking at the current satellite radar is depressing. Literally between 350-400 miles separates us from a drought-ending all-day rainfall event with the remnants of Helene. One of those "what if" scenarios if the hurricane had hit closer to the MS/AL coast we would be seeing 3-4" of widespread rainfall across Oklahoma and be in great shape heading into our driest months. As it stands we really need a wet October or we could be in trouble.

I mean, 350 miles is from here to KC. Not exactly close.

There are some more storms chasing Helene, maybe we could get some rain out of those...if they go the right way ( not that I'm wishing for destruction for anyone) maybe some rain is likely?

Close enough that NE OK has cloud cover from it
