kukblue1 11-06-2024, 10:41 PM We so Jinxed them but the Nuggets played really good. Like really good. Westbrook 29, Braun 24, Porter Jr 24 (21 in second half) 6-10 from 3. Westbrook 3-4 from 3. Braun 4-8 from 3. 13-23 from those 3 guys. Yeah just one of those nights in the NBA they happen. I will say this though. For those wondering if we need Hartenstein the answer is yes. Chet did his best he could on Jokic but he can't guard him 1on1 and that is what left those other 3 guys to have big games. Hartenstein is going to help us vs teams like Nuggets, Mavs, Lakers or any team with a physical big for that matter

Agree, he, Nick Collison and Kyle Weaver were my favorites when the NBA arrived in Oklahoma.
Libbymin 11-07-2024, 09:16 AM Tough loss last night but proud of the way we came back after being down 8 late. Caruso is a bit of a double edged sword for us. He has made our defense even more stout but can also be a liability on offense. We knew that when we picked him up though.

Caruso has never been a liability on offense and he's currently shooting substantially worse than ever in his career. Almost unsustainably bad.
OKCRealtor 11-07-2024, 09:55 AM Yea just a little bit off an off night, Nuggets played well credit to them. Caruso is shooting 14% from 3 and under 24% entirely from the field this year. This will almost certainly revert closer to his typical averages as the season goes on. Last night was just a really bad night.
Anonymous. 11-07-2024, 10:06 AM Hopefully the Thunder trading for a 3&D curse didn't hit him. The straight up trade for Giddy was still a + since he plays substantially better D, but it is still baffling how he is missing easy layups and every single WIDE open 3.

The Singler curse is when the Thunder pick up a white guy and his shooting percentages plummet. Is Caruso the latest victim? lol
The good thing about Caruso is that he does so many good things on the court that he can still be a positive when shooting poorly. It's encouraging that the Nuggets played so well and, seemingly, OKC played poorly in a lot of areas (Shai was really sloppy with the ball, Caruso couldn't shoot, Dort couldn't finish the layup late) and still almost won. Even the loss was king of encouraging.
kukblue1 11-07-2024, 01:29 PM I'll give Caruso a pass on everything right now just for the simple fact that on defense he is not playing his natural position. Until the Williams come back and Hartenstein we are asking him to guard the other teams 5 at times. He did do some nice things at the end of the game. Good cut for layup, got the rebound with 13 seconds left. I think he is trying so hard on defense that it's effecting his offense some. At least that is what I hope.
dankrutka 11-07-2024, 02:07 PM Caruso guarded bigs in Chicago too. And he's always tried hard on defense. That's why he's elite and often injured. So I don't think any of this is that new for him. He's just going through an offensive slump.

Did he talk about this a couple games ago on how he wasn't used to guarding the 5 spot. I think he brought it up. I sure he did in Chicago sum but not as much as we are asking him too do so far this year. Found it. https://x.com/SK_Hoops/status/1853845032178274691 Small ball 5 he is having to do some adjusting.
dankrutka 11-07-2024, 06:05 PM Yeah, that's probably right. He guarded guys like Giannis, but maybe not guys like Jokic. But Chet was the primary defender on Jokic most of the night.

Laramie 11-09-2024, 08:48 AM That second quarter was something. 44-20 Thunder.
My greatest fear was the Rockets (Height/Length) would put us on a losing streak.
Unfortunately, during the 2nd quarter, I left to pick up more snacks (Didn't have the radio tuned in while driving); upon my return, the Thunder had the Rockets on the ropes--preparing them like prime beef brisket strung up in the Smokehouse in the 3rd quarter and feasted upon in the 4th. Nice to see Steven Adams, a good gauge for Chet.
Give it up to Coach Mark Daigneault; he has our Thunder on a mission.
kukblue1 11-09-2024, 11:21 AM Good Crowd last night better than last year too start the season. Still not what I would call full. 10-20 empty seats in each section in Loud city manly behind the baskets. I check 30 minutes before tip tickets down to about $15 or less even with the fees. I would think Sunday game will be playoff full.

Can’t tell if I feel better or worse about this having been through something similar before. On one hand I know how to approach it, I know what to do, what not to do and how beautiful the other side is. But on the other hand I’ve felt the frustration of this process, and the wear it puts on your mind. Most of all I’m hurt I can’t help my teammates and play for our fans and supporters for a while. Everyone who sticks with me and our team, along with my need for hoops, is a big part of my passion to return. Don’t pity me or feel bad, there’s lots of people out there rn with real problems that don’t heal. Anyways excuse my rambling just wanted to address our okc fans and family

Anonymous. 11-11-2024, 07:49 AM Amazing comeback last night considering GSW thrives when they don't have to play a center like Chet.
Really hope IHart and JWill are ready here in a few weeks. This could be a brutal end of year stretch. It is wild that we won't see this team at full potential until deep into January now.

could be more like February or March. or next season. hard to say for sure.
Sucks really bad obviously but I’m glad it wasn’t related to his joint. That would have been a catastrophic injury.
FighttheGoodFight 11-11-2024, 08:45 AM I dont think he comes back at all this season. Going to play some small ball 2018 Rockets style until iHart gets back in December. Going to be tough.
floyd the barber 11-11-2024, 08:45 AM Tough beginning of the season.
Holmgren's injury isn't very surprising. He's slender. The man could almost walk through a door without opening it.
It's good that half the NBA makes the playoffs. The Thunder just need to finish the last half of the season strong.

Disagree based on literally everything being said about the injury. It’s non weight bearing so it isn’t near as serious as something joint related. I doubt he’s back in game shape in the 8-10 week timeline being thrown out there right now but seeing him back in late February or March isn’t at all unrealistic. Need hartenstien, J will and kenrich back badly in the mean time.

kukblue1 11-11-2024, 02:04 PM Kendrick Williams might be back tonight for the Clippers. He was heading for the G-League but need him now. Chet I'm hoping for being back All-Star break. 10 weeks to reevaluate that is Mid January. A month to get back into shape. Fingers crossed. Hartenstein is back mid Dec or about 20 games. We need to probably go 12-8 or stay around 500 until he gets back. Not worried about what seed as long as we remain top 6. SGA needs to take over for a bit and be the MVP of the league.

I think we’ll be okay, just probably won’t be having a historically good season anymore. Maybe go pick up Poku, Biyombo or someone cheap that’s played here to provide depth until Chet gets healthy again.

kukblue1 11-11-2024, 10:09 PM SGA and JDub are going to have to carry us for a bit until Hartenstein is back. SGA could make a strong case over the next 15 games for league MVP. That's probably the number of games until Hartenstein is ready to go. Mid Dec
Libbymin 11-11-2024, 10:31 PM Career high 45 points for SGA tonight and a gutsy win. Pretty obvious though that teams are going to exploit our lack of height on defense though. Zubac was a real problem for us and other teams will be doing the same until we can get some of our guys healthy again.

pretty wild to think about the numbers Zion would put up against us (given the big situation) if he were able to play. A 50-piece and 20 rebounds wouldn't be out of the question.

lol no
Anonymous. 11-12-2024, 10:10 AM Zubac should have had 30pts last night, but our annoying smallball defense is juuust enough to keep him from dominating.
Laramie 11-12-2024, 10:50 AM Players are getting more playing time and reps with Holmgren and Hartenstein out. If they can win half of their games until one of our big men return, we should be in great shape to win the WC granted they aren't any more injuries to the starters.
Gotta give it up to my man Luguentz Dort (19 points), he pestered the hell-out-of Harden (17 points).
kukblue1 11-12-2024, 01:34 PM https://x.com/OptaSTATS/status/1856341954818093115 I think it's really important to win some of these home games coming up before the road trip end of the month. Pelicans have so many players out. Suns have no KD but still have Nurkic. Mavs will be a big problem, Spurs and trailblazers both have bigs but games we could win we are better than both them teams. Than the road trip that scares me. Kings and Sabonis, Warriors who can play small ball with us, Lakers with AD and Lebron. Eight games to the end of the month. I'll be good if we stay 500 and go 4-4.

Thunder Unveils 2024-25 Nike NBA City Edition Uniform
Team will debut uniform at Paycom Center for Nov. 17 City Nights game

https://cdn.nba.com/teams/uploads/sites/1610612760/2024/11/ce-24-release.jpg?imwidth=300OKLAHOMA CITY, Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024 – The Oklahoma City Thunder unveiled its 2024-25 Nike NBA City Edition Uniform today. The team will debut the uniform at Paycom Center during its first City Nights game Sunday, Nov. 17 against the Dallas Mavericks.
Created in partnership with Nike, the uniform’s design completes a two-year story arc reflecting Oklahoma City’s evolving landscape, growth, and momentum.
“The 24-25 City Edition Uniform is an expression of Oklahoma City's progression and unique cultural renaissance stemming from the optimism inherent in Oklahoma’s people and heritage,” said Brian Byrnes, Thunder senior vice president of Business Operations. “It pays tribute to the innovators that have shaped Oklahoma’s culture and are pushing it forward.”
As a statement of unity, the jersey features OKLAHOMA lettering across the chest. This is only the second Thunder uniform to feature the state’s name as the visual center. The base of the uniform sets a distinct tone and is topped with a belt buckle of the state’s outline which speaks to the pride in Oklahoma’s roots, what it is today, and trajectory into the future.
The pops of color in the piping, chest mark, and numbers represent Oklahoma City’s energy as well as the bright and optimistic art commonly found throughout the community.
The pattern featured inside the side panel is custom-made and consists of various elements of Thunder logos and wordmarks. The elements overlap representing how progression is the result of layering collective experiences, contributions, and perspectives.
In addition to the uniform, the Thunder’s City Edition platform includes a City Edition court and City Nights theme games. Each Sunday home game, beginning Nov. 17, is designated as a City Nights game, during which the team will wear the uniform and play on the City Edition court.
Extending the uniform’s expression and celebration of local creatives, each City Nights game will also feature an exclusive, in-arena retail item in collaboration with Round21, a sports and art platform founded by Oklahoma native Jasmine Maietta; and the return of the Fresh Take Poster Series presented by Michelob ULTRA. Each poster is designed by an artist from the Thunder Artist Group (TAG) and will reflect a corresponding cultural moment - art, fashion, music, development, culinary, or fitness - being highlighted during a City Nights game.
Fans can browse the City Edition collection at www.okcthunder.com/city.

Zuplar 11-13-2024, 09:12 AM Yikes, that might be one of the worst unis the Thunder have had. Also kind of odd that it's the "City Edition" uni yet they only put Oklahoma on it to represent the state instead of just the city. I actually like the idea, just think it's a little goofy they did it on the "City Edition."
I'm so ready for a simplified rebrand.

Yea those are so bad. Like how is it possible to have nothing about the city on the city edition jersey? The jerseys this year around the league are just so bad.
Honestly the only jersey of ours I actually somewhat like right now is the orange OKC one.

I’m not a huge fan of orange generally, but given the other options, you are right it’s our best.
Something else that annoys me is that they switched our white jerseys a few years ago to say Oklahoma City and the blue ones to say Thunder. It seemed to be tradition for the home white jersey to have the team name and the blue away jersey the city name. I looked back and previous to a couple of years ago all the Thunder and Sonic jerseys were this way. I don’t get the change. The other seems traditional.

I wish they’d have done a state inspired jersey previously. They could have called it anything, but city edition is a misnomer.
dankrutka 11-13-2024, 01:02 PM I don’t think these are even in the bottom half of OKC jerseys. My favorites are the navy blue versions of the current orange OKC jerseys with the slight thunder glitch. The colors all make sense with these. They’re fine IMHO.

2012-2016 I just hate. 2018/2019 was cool.
I do follow a guy on twitter who makes mock jerseys. Most of them are better than what we get.
in 2026 they should lean into Route 66 for a city jersey being the anniversary.

Zuplar 11-13-2024, 02:41 PM I like that idea. I've seen a few mockups done by fans or designers and most of them are better than what we've had. That's why I'm so hopeful for a rebrand.
I think my favorites have been the Christmas 2012 and Christmas 2016. They maybe are a little to simple, but in my mind the 2012 Christmas jersey should be a starting point. I'm a less is more kind of guy though.
