Today I started cleaning out my office. Three boxes of sports pictures and other sports stuff that I have no room for at home so I don't know what I'll do with it all. About 3/4 done and I have three days to do the other 1/4. It will really be odd to not go to the office after 22 years. I planned on on another 5 year contract before retiring but the Govt had other plans. I'll still be involved in a much smaller way. But at least enough to see the new MUCH reduced contract staffing just will not work.
I reserve the right to laugh heartedly!
Good luck to you and I hope you have a good plan going forward.
A lot of my friends are retiring these days and I worry about them staying sharp and maintaining purpose.

It'll be weird for a while, but hopefully you get used to it fairly quickly, congrats!

Thanks all! I had planned on one more 5 year contract so that thew a little bit of a dent in the financial plans. But we'll be ok.
There will definitely be Miata time! And our cat will love it!

Congratulations! What a wonderful feeling it must be.
You didn't ask for any advice, but if you will let me say something.
Don't retire FROM something.
Instead, retire TO something.
Make a plan to do things that do not include sleeping in, watching tv, etc.
Keep yourself going with healthy things for your life, soul, well being, relationships, etc.
Best wishes to you.
