Drove by this weekend and it had a construction sign outside. Curious if anyone knows what’s going on.

If it's the building just east of Quail Springs Mall, it was purchased by Midfirst Bank for use as office space. There is another thread about the building on this website.

They are talking a out the old Moore store. I remember seeing someone mention something about it a few months back.

I've never been in one but my quick googling says Painted Tree looks like a local vendor shop. Meaning, all the folks locally making their stuff like soap/crafts/etc, just sell them out of a permanent shop like this instead of their booth at an Affair of the Heart or farmers markets. Is that accurate? If that's the case, does anyone feel like that has a chance of being successful long-term?

Yes that's pretty much it. It's rows of local vendors in small spaces where they present their goods.

It appears to still be open but there is the market at Quail Springs which appears to be a similar concept and has been open for years. My wife used to have a space there.

So essentially another showplace market just a couple blocks west of I35 instead of a couple of blocks east? Interesting.

Who knows, perhaps that location will more popular/busier...

Doubt it....maybe a year.

It gets to compete with At Home with it's massive warehouse sized offerings, and at a lower price point. It's not as though we're lacking in places to buy homemade soaps and crafts.

OK so I went into this place last weekend. It isn't what I expected it to be, but that's not necessarily a good thing. It feels exactly like walking the Made in Oklahoma building at the fair. The "stalls" are set up for each vendor with their own way of displaying their goods. There is a LOT of repetition between the shops. It's mostly clothing and most of that clothing, someone is just reselling something from an uncommon brand and they didn't make it themselves.

There's the few required soap stalls in there too.

I did see a few jewelry places but again, a lot of that was not made by the person. The whole place is more like little boutique shops and not actually Etsy type work. There are some nice things in there and there was a great shirt shop with sarcastic stuff at the back right and I did make a purchase there. Cup vinyl and 3-d printed shops.

So if you were looking for the homemade wares, well this mostly is not it. If you want to spend a little extra on something you wont find in any other shop in OKC (sweaters, shirts, scarf, etc), then you can find something here. The prices on some things were a little dumb and some were still reasonable given what you're buying. I also bought a sweater that, with the discount being offered by that vendor, made it comparable in price to Kohls or Pennys but a higher quality.

It is a nice concept in that you dont have to stop and pay 10 times while you're walking around and all, but it's not as, shall we say, "interesting" in the product offerings as I was thinking it would be. Heck, maybe that's why it will do better than I was thinking. But we'll see.

I will also say a few of the stalls, the people just didn't even try. Not sure if they're closing out or just trying to start, but when you have all of literally 10 things and barely an MS Word sign for your shop....it's not gonna cut it. Especially if you're offering the same thing as everyone else. That's really the common thread.....lots of the same and not a lot of "unique".

Pretty much what I would expect. Modern day flea market branded as 'boutique'.

After hearing the description of the place I assumed it was just another Showplace Market. Based on your description here it's exactly like I assumed it would be. :)
