Saturday system looks a tad faster so nothing for the Metro.

Nothing like 90+ to head into fall!

Looks like it's going to stay that way into October.

I would really love some fall temps before we plunge into the deep freeze.

Next week should be pretty decent, I think. October should be pretty decent as well, although possibly rainier than usual. But not seeing any indication of an early cold snap a la 2019 or 2020.

Keeping an eye on the severe threat tomorrow, but I think it's going to be more of an issue for the Tulsa Metro than OKC.

And now the HRRR shows a big storm over the OKC Metro around 9pm. Probably going to know anything until tomorrow morning and where the Low/triple point sets up. Does it set up in Nw Oklahoma Sw Kansas or does it set up more North Central Oklahoma Southern Kansas. Could make a huge difference.

Jeez. What a bust this storm system was for okc. There’s not a cloud in the sky so far west of mcalester.

This system definitely favored eastern OK. Impressive totals in some areas with more on the way Saturday

Very close call for the Metro tonight for some big hail storms right now it looks like it's going to stay slightly East but it's going to be close. Meanwhile computer models have shifted more North for Sunday and now it looks like South Central Oklahoma is the zone for Sunday

Anything to dry out OKC to here a sneeze on a blade of grass will start a fire. Or Hefner will continue to drain.

I've just been getting some sprinkles and distant thunder after all previous hype and won't be surprised if this next hyped-up event works out the same way. So, I better water my plants tomorrow. But surely sooner or later some future hyped up weather event will yield at least an inch of rain with no severe effects.

With that map, I think it persisted and rained all night in eastern Oklahoma, good sleeping weather if it didn't thunder a lot.

Need some input from the experts! Was planning to spread grass seed today, but I don't want to if we'll experience heavy rainfall rates tonight. Some rain is fine, but I don't want a downpour to wash away the seed. The forecasts at Mesonet have been a bit all over the place, unsure what to make of it.

If you have family, friends in Tulsa make sure they stat weather aware today. Big hail possible Tornado.

You can almost be assured that OKC will miss out on heavy rains. Have most of the year.

Yep even though the 11am run of the HRRR shows a big storm right over OKC again. Someone will get luck and it probably won't be my yard again. Never is my yard.

My backyard has canyons all over it. It is bad. The recovery Hefner had over July is now almost gone.

Lol, my bad!!... I meant to include that. Yes, NW OKC on the south side of Lake Hefner.

Finally getting my distant thunder again. With some luck it might sprinkle. I bet it's pouring down rain 10 or so miles to the south where there is a severe thunderstorm warning. I suppose there could be further development soon.

Nope. These are in areas with minimal grass, due to no sunlight going on the side of my house.

As usual, OKC gets screwed. Just sucks. We are dying here for rain, and keep being 30 or 40 miles from getting game-changing rain. Alas, our reservoirs will keep draining.

Quiet week ahead with highs in the 80’s and lower humidity. No real good rain chances showing up until the first weekend of October when another active pattern looks to set up.

I am thankful that we didn’t get that severe weather. I want nothing to do with 3 inch hail.

September 2023 seems to have the potential to be one of the ten hottest Septembers in OKC history. The current ten hottest are as follows:

1) 1931 - 93.5/70.9
2) 1998 - 92.9/69.5
3) 1939 - 93.6/66.9
4) 1911 - 90.8/69.2
5) 1978 - 90.7/68.7
6) 1954 - 93.1/64.9
7) 2019 - 88.8/68.8
8) 1933 - 88.6/68.5
9) 1947 - 89.9/66.4
10) 1921 - 88.5/67.6

Checking back in on my first post, we are almost certainly going to fall short of the top ten, but if the current forecast holds, we should finish with an average high of around 88.5 and an average low of around 65.0, which would be good for 19th place.

Oklahoma's reservoirs are doing just fine... https://www.swt-wc.usace.army.mil/map/

As always, rain would be nice, but it's not anything out of the ordinary...

That is an awesome timelapse. But I wouldn't call it bizarre like the article suggests, in fact the opposite - a classic overshooting top on a supercell.

Not really cooler but wetter weather is coming at the end of next week into the following week. Forecasted totals through 10/13:

Still have my eye out for the potential of a higher-end severe weather event whenever the ridge breaks down at some point in the first half of October. Not a guarantee by any means, but this is the type of pattern that tends to give us our occasional fall severe weather events.

Yep looks like October is going to be a crazy month. It usually is anyway but could be very active with storms and temperature swings

Not just above average, but way above average.

+10-15 degrees every day for the next week. This is ridiculous.

Could see SPC outlining some risks in the back part of the 4-8 day outlooks in the next couple days. Obviously things are still very far out, but I would peg E OK for any severe hotspot.
