I won't! Sounds very plausible, though.

It appears something is afoot at the former Blackbird’s. Was for lease, don’t see the sign now and demo/remodeling is occurring. I have no idea what it may be.

Word on the street is a country music dance bar. No idea owner or name.

This morning saw a sign on the old Penny Hill for "Coach's Corner" going in. Again no idea owner or anything of that matter. Permits for july don't list anything at either location.

A country themed bar could probably work pretty well there. They all require a lot of space and are almost always packed. That’s a gap in the market that no one has touched in a long time (that I know of), especially not on campus corner. Sooner Corral was the only country dancing type bar I remember but it was far enough away from campus that the distance probably hurt its draw. Also feel like I remember them getting in trouble with OU which led to the Greek houses not being allowed to host parties there. Something like that done right would be a big draw for Greek House Date parties and students in general.

According to Google Maps the old Logan’s Roadhouse will become The Greene Turtle sports bar. There are no locations outside the Eastern US so I’m taking this with a grain of salt.

They were rumored to be entering the OKC market over a year ago.

I bet they have a local franchisee.

This must have something to do with their connection to Clark Crew.

An internet search indicates that Greene Turtle bought Clark Crew BBQ on Northwest Expressway in 2022.

EDIT: Here's an article from January indicating they're expanding into Oklahoma this year. https://www.bizjournals.com/baltimore/news/2024/01/04/greene-turtle-ita-geo-concepcion-faces-watch-2024.html

The old Blackbird space is now The Wagon (https://www.instagram.com/thewagonnorman/) country bar.

Also Rosa Mezcal is opening on Main Street. They had an ambitious plan to be done and opened within 40 days. (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61560042390697). They are owned by the same owners of Dulce Vida Tacos & Tequila in OKC.

I would love for there to be a Clark Crew in Norman. And a Mama Rojas? Perfection.

Driving down Robinson today I noticed the old Northside Market is now a bbq place.
I did not catch a name but the walls are decorated with pigs as well as signage indicating pork, beef etc.

Drove by this today and the building and the whole rest of the block to the west were all demoed. Any idea what’s happening?

Speaking of HSRG... El Huevo has to be one of the best breakfast places I have tried in the metro. I am really surprised they still just have the one location in Norman and haven't branched-out to OKC yet.

It is pretty good. My father-in-law loves going there when he is in town.

Anyone know what's going in the former Johnny Carino's? It's been painted white and there's a new mural on the south wall.

This would be interesting. You would think they would enter the DFW market first given that is the lead for every other major chain before they come into Oklahoma City area

According to an article in Franchise Times, The Green Turtle parent company, ITA, also owns Clark Crew BBQ, an Oklahoma company.

“ ITA Group Holdings, a company planning to grow its legacy brand The Greene Turtle, closed a $6 million equity raise earlier this year. Completed in July, the lead investor in the move was Table Management. Geo Concepcion, ITA Group CEO, said the dollars will be invested in capital expenditures at The Green Turtle, as well as its other restaurant brand Clark Crew BBQ.”

A lot of movement on Lindsey Street from Hal Smith. The Mama Rojas going in but they also bought the lot across the street (across Berry) for another place. https://www.normanokdevelopment.com/2025/02/28/three-developments-underway-to-revitalize-west-lindsey/

Too bad they can't move the retail at the NW corner up to the intersection like what they are doing with Mama Roja at the NE corner.

The land just to the east on Lindsey is for sale - my guess is that will be another pocket neighborhood like what they are currently building south of Coach's Corner

I think that land east of the Mama rojas is zoned commercial. Could be wrong though.

It is also home to the Norman Police fundraiser at the end of each month ;)

It’s zoned Residential R-1. It could be rezoned but I imagine that wouldn’t be easy.
