what?

Lol if the Lakers blow-up rumors are actually true, then Presti needs to sell the farm for AD. It would be the craziest trade deadline ever.

it wasn't just covid policies that turned fans off. It was BLM and racial issues as well

I think having the games on Bally instead of being easily viewed on FS1 has something to do with it. If people were able to more easily watch these games on local tv as they had been before, there probably would be some more interest generated from people who are more casual fans. Those people are less likely to pony up for Bally and thus, less likely to say “hey we should go to a game” after watching a game on TV and seeing how fun these guys are to watch.

games were never on FS1 they were on FoxSportsOklahoma ... which is now called BallySportsOklahoma ie the same channel ..

I agree that there's no need to argue about it, but these excuses are terrible.

This is correct. OKC had one of the best rebuilds in NBA history. Most cities aren't so lucky.

It's just unfortunate that OKC is the only city with... children, jobs, and people who want to relax.

Considering the context (the most exciting team in the NBA playing the defending champs), that's really bad attendance.

But the defending champs best player was sidelined. As was Jalen and Isiah J.

Not to stir the pot, but I know of a man that quit going and another small company who consistently rented a suite to quit also.
So at least a few that I knew.

Yeah just because you think it’s BS, doesn’t make it BS. I know several people who specifically cited this and being upset that the Thunder didn’t allow fans for an entire season when they didn’t renew their season tickets or just stopped going to/watching games (one who’d had them since 2008) after they started allowing fans back at games. We aren’t just making it up. It’s not a huge subset of the fan base but it did have somewhat of an impact.

I agree that the excuses are weak but it doesn’t make them any less true. Would almost guarantee that if the team hadn't locked out fans for an entire season, we would be back near 100% capacity...though unfortunately there's no way to prove that theory.

Not sure if it was free but it was on dish Network DirecTV and pretty much anything streaming services. Not the only way I think you can get Bally's sports is through Cox I'm not even sure if YouTube TV has it anymore. I haven't been able to watch Thunder games for years without illegally doing it is a good way of putting it.

I am pretty sure FSSW used to be part of the basic TV service packages, it seemed a ton of people could easily watch the game. Then the Bally thing happened and it requires a more expensive package, which limited a lot of viewers.

I have nothing but internet at my house, so I have to pay for the bally subscription now. I used to just sail the high seas, but a lot of them can no longer airplay to a TV, so I went ahead and just got the Bally app.

I "think" there was a sports TV network explosion between 2015-20 that changed everything up. Fox, CBS and NBC all decided to compete with ESPN by forming their own basic cable channels. Fox bought Speed Channel and changed it to FS1, because it was grandfathered in basic cable packages and provided them more homes than either NBC Sports or CBS Sports networks at start up. Fox Sports Southwest had been the Fox Sports and Regional Sports Network (AKA RSN) programming combination that was broken up by the FS1 move. I think the Thunder had been on Fox Sports Southwest in a close to basic format, and was moved to the start up Fox Sports Oklahoma during that RSN expansion era. Fox Sports Oklahoma was a more premium tier, and changed it's name to Bally Sports Oklahoma when Fox sold all their RSNs to ESPN.

Just saw Steven Adams has been traded to Houston. If he were healthy I think it would be cool to see him back in OKC backing up Chet. Two very different styles of play and something that would certainly add to the options available to Daigneault.

The most important issue for not filling the arena is the fact the team was terrible the last couple of seasons.
My company could not even give away their good tickets for free so we do not have them anymore. We had four tickets since 2008.

Now, the rebuild is ahead of schedule, I can tell the difference in the resale market. I was able to pay under face value early in the season but not anymore.
You can also see that the weeknight games are in less demand than the weekends as expected.

Resale is a little bit better yes but I still been sailing all my extra tickets for below face value. Like I said in an earlier post I think this is one of the reasons there are less fans. A lot of season ticket holders have left cause the last couple years they haven't been able able to resale and no playoffs so many didn't want to wait it out and left. Flip side of that though tickets are really easy to get. I just got an email today they are even offering Quarter season tickets packages along with half season and full season. Heck I think I will have extra tickets for a few games in March if anyone wants them.

I think the reality is Oklahoma City has matured as a market. A town in the Honeymoon phase is going to sell out every game, regardless of talent or record. A true "Big League City" isn't always going to sell out a weekday evening game against a team from Denver or Minneapolis, regardless of how good they are. The casual fan who makes up the last 2,000-3,000 attendance know the Celtics, Lakers, LeBron, Steph Curry, and maybe the Bulls and Knicks.

Not that I know of. It is on some cable packages (Over The Air 52 | U-Verse 52 | U-Verse HD 1052 | Cable One 16 | Cox Cable 7 | Cox Cable HD 707 | DirecTV 52 | Dish 52 | Older TV’s 12.1 | Older TV’s HD 12.2 | Pioneer 8 | Pioneer HD 405 | Taloga Cable 52.1 | Taloga Cable HD 52.2 | Vi-Tel LLC 36)

I am able to get it in Norman with the cheap flat antenna on the window. We will see how it does in the rain!

Trying turning off the Amplified part if you can. If you live that close and in the city an amplified antenna will pick up everything and you will have too much inference. The ones rated for 40 and 50 miles don't work well in a city. It's best just to get something cheap like 10-15 mile range. Even Just try something really cheap like a paperclip might do. https://www.homeantenna.com/digital-antenna-reception-map/

That worked. Thanks!

It's still not a super strong signal (2/5), but I guess it's enough and so far I haven't seen it break up or pixelate. I guess it could be, in part, from moving some stuff around to unhook the amp power, but it works for now and I'm not messing around with it again until after the game. Ha.

Minnesota lost to Orlando last night so by way of tiebreaker (division record), the Thunder is back on top of the west with a fairly favorable schedule rolling into the all star break. That said, the Timberwolves have a favorable one as well.

I think he as a place vs some teams and maybe not against others. He might be better only playing in 20 min a games as a roll player type but I bet he wants 30-35.

I don't think Mark D. plays based on the player's expected time requirements. He does a good job of managing the talent on the floor very tactically. He's actually one of the best in the game. I trust his judgement in giving him the minutes he does and asking him to play the role that best helps the team.... Ball handling, precise passing, hard drives against outsized defenders, quick and sharp backdoor cuts, rebounding. Giddey has many tools and is very young. I doubt JG is unhappy with his development.

Presti usually makes a move, but my guess is that it depends a lot on the offers. Someone like Kelly Olynyk or Royce O'Neale make some sense to me, but the question is, what's the cost? If there is a need, it's a big body to battle inside for certain matchups. Still, I think that role will be limited because this team is best when Chet is at the 5.

I really like our top 9 now, but also know that there could be series where, for example, Giddey could be forced off the floor if he can't hit threes. However, I think Aaron Wiggins and Cason Wallace can step into a bigger roles if needed. I won't be upset if the Thunder don't make any moves. I want to see what this team can do.

Tough loss tonight because it was a division game also. However, I'm more worried about what the teams below us are doing like the kings and the suns because I would hate for us not to finish in the top four in the west. After being near the top for months now, that would stink if we fell down to five. If we can finish top four in the west and win a first round playoff series, we seriously have over achieve this year. Well we probably have already overachieved, but it would be nice to have a top four seed and have probably three home playoff games at least three home playoff games. Unless we can sweep the first round
