Article in the Oklahoman about redeveloping the NW corner of Reno and MLK, replacing the defunct gas station and the Checkers. Waffle House and Comfort Suites staying.

It's unfortunate that the Waffle House isn't going to go. Easily the worst Waffle House in OKC, don't even think they do dine-in between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. anymore.

eExpress is planning something similar to what they are doing in Moore.

A welcome evolution.

So much empty lands when you see it like. Also, the Derichebourg Recycling plant is way off Reno Av. Can't even see it on this pic.

The old gas station turned dispensary met its fate today. MWW is finishing to clear the land.

good stuff as I drove by it every day.

Thank you for posting that.

That old station has been a huge eyesore.

Looking forward to eExpress completely redeveloping that entire corner.

Will be interesting to see the site layout as the lot lines are very haphazard.

Not sure if you want to make a separate thread for this or not, but it looks like the old Motel 6 is being purchased by OCHA for $3.75MM with $2.2 in renovations to convert the 75 unit motel into housing for homeless. See the Oklahoman article below:

The homeless housing will be directly west of the bus station.

That entire stretch of Reno -- the gateway to OKANA -- is really ugly.

yep really okc needs a long term (15-30) year plan to make that stretch better

Is providing homeless housing a short walk from Okana wise?

Not sure of where would be a better location? Walking distance to services and good bus access. I'm guessing it will be well managed and secure. Not gonna be a dope filled shooting gallery like that place that got shut down last month.

Not much, now that I think about it. But it is an available facility that will serve it's purpose quite well and I don't think the City has any desire to change the area dramatically from what it is.
