C_M_25 04-19-2023, 06:56 PM Jeez that is a monster storm west of Norman. BG918 04-19-2023, 08:14 PM This aged well. Good thing I’m not a gambler! But seriously the odds of the cap breaking were slim but there was just enough heating and upper level convergence. This time of year if anything develops it will likely be severe jn1780 04-19-2023, 08:19 PM This 'slight risk' day has produce more than the past two or three moderate risk days. Anonymous. 04-20-2023, 07:51 AM Today will be breezy N winds. Cooler Spring weather now through end of next week. We should also be catching weak systems along the flow while they move from NW to SE. This should aid in bringing rain to a lot of the drought-stricken areas of KS and OK. The best part about this pattern shift... I was running several errands around OKC and noting the air temps were around 78...so I thought, "no way..." Later, after I'd kinda stopped watching temps, I was downtown and it seemed "stickier," then I noticed air temp had shot up to about 86. I got out of one building, looked to the SW and saw the organized cumulus starting to tower up and thought "uh oh..." Drive through about six miles of tiny hail in SW OKC last night and amazingly sustained no damage. I think I drove under the storm as it was ramping up, moving one way while I was driving another, and that gave me *just* enough time to escape the hail before it made anywhere near ping pong or golf ball size. I'm *very* fortunate. kukblue1 04-20-2023, 11:18 AM [QUOTE=SoonerDave;1229672]I will freely admit I didn't think the cap would break yesterday. Looks like a similar, but quicker system will move through late Friday. Looks like another good chance for majority of the state, with a slight favor to southern. SEMIweather 04-26-2023, 01:10 PM Really, really good to see a long-duration rain event like this across the state. Very reminiscent of 04/21/2018 which marked the beginning of the end of that severe drought as we transitioned into a wetter El Niño pattern. Hopefully this will turn out similarly. Pete 04-26-2023, 01:18 PM That was a nice, steady soaking we received over the last couple of days. Haha, if OKC could create 1 more reservoir, to hold more runoff from these flooding rains, that would be ideal. Hefner looking as ghastly as it does isn't a good thing. Anonymous. 04-27-2023, 03:41 PM Most of this will be late Friday night. Strong north winds will accompany this, especially after the rain moves out. The rest of the weekend looks fantastic.
