Something is brewing on the southeast corner of Reno & Western.

A couple of small buildings have been recently demolished and the same LLC owns all the properties outlined in red.

No building or planning permits have been filed but it's a good bet we'll see something soon. The 7-Eleven on the NW corner is largely finished but that company has about 10 locations at the same stage and I suspect the delays are due to staffing and training.

That greek restaurant could be a nice multi-story apartment complex with commercial. I am excited to see what is in store for this area.

Anyone else think a 7/11 was a bad use of the land? At least its not a multi-story self-storage building lol

I appreciate it being a 7/11. There aren't all that many good gas stations in that area. The next one west on Reno is like 1.5 mi away. And the second nearest one to the West is 3mi away. There is a gas station across the street from that 7/11 - I probably wouldn't go in that store. The next nearest gas station is eExpress to the North, which is usually overpriced.

The land itself is bad. You can thank the elevated portion of the OKC boulevard for that. A 7/11 is about as good as you can ask for on this site.

I'll admit a 7/11 isnt the worst since im sure it will be always busy. And yeah the gas station across the street and at OKC Blvd do not inspire confidence so I dont blame you.

Usually, a new modern convenience store tends to close any run-down gas station nearby.

Let's hope that is the case here.

Yes it’s a bad use of the land but I’m less worked up about it than I might be. It’s a bit isolated.

The 7-11 challenge will be how to navigate the typically large homeless population in the area needing bathroom facilities, food, etc.

Most won't risk a trespass in order to use a restroom inside a well-lit store.

I know once is having trouble with staff and training so I bet it is the same for 7-11

It was sad to see Loomis Automotive go on the NW corner because that had been there for ages. Was originally Loomis Battery. But I know Joe Loomis and he seemed fine with selling the property that was started by his father there. He just moved the business a little farther west on Reno. One of the few places you can take an older classic car with a carburetor and points and condenser and they know how to work on it. I used to enjoy stopping by there because you never knew what kinds of old muscle cars from the 60s would be in his service bays.

Not the right thread, but I noticed the Mexican consulate nearby has a stop work order. Yesterday they submitted for permits , they must have started without them.

Is this where the Mexican consulate is going? I didn’t think they had announced a location.

They havent yet as they dont want folks showing up for services when theyre not open. I did see the images of it being worked on and there is a mcdonalds in the background.

Edit: Its a joke in Mexico that Mexicans prefer Coca-Cola to water and them having a coke machine as one of the first things is a little funny
