Back in its hay day they were stocked with high end big name brands. Racks and shelves were full. Now it seems they have items the quality of Walmart and looks like they need half to a third of the space they are in. I expected them to go under a few years ago. Why so little stuff in their stores?? Bill Robertson 05-24-2023, 06:36 PM Going back to the comments on Ross, last few times I was in the Edmond location, half the store was empty. Why so little stuff in their stores??The last few times I've been in the NW Exp & Rockwell store it's the same. Not anything like it used to be. Now it's something between a "what Target/Walmart don't want to deal with and an upper end flea market. It's amazing the difference in merchandise in the Dallas Stores vs OKC in the Ross and TJ Maxx stores. Even Norman has much better selection. Hopefully the new Rockwell Plaza TJ Maxx will have better merchandise. barrettd 06-05-2023, 09:07 AM This one is unfortunate, more than BB&B, for me. We have one near my house, and it's great for random stuff. We've bought small pieces of furniture from there, as well. I'm guessing the Crate store near me might be on the way out, as well, if the business model of reselling overstock stuff is also going by the wayside. Well, Crate is closed. Took my daughter there a week or so ago and it looks like maybe they closed at the end of May. scottk 06-05-2023, 06:25 PM Going back to the comments on Ross, last few times I was in the Edmond location, half the store was empty. Why so little stuff in their stores?? There are fewer department stores and big box stores to feed into Ross? Can't offer discounts on older department store styles when there aren't as many department stores left. Are a large number of people are going to Ross/TJ MAXX/Marshalls to find discounted clothing due to inflation and the stores can't keep up with the demand? That would be a good place for an Ollie's to open oklip955 06-07-2023, 08:11 AM I'm suprised that Ollie's has not opened a location in Edmond or a bit south into Okc Maybe they might look at the Edmond location or the old Ace Hardware location on Danforth and Kelly. By the way TJMaxx seems to be well stocked except at inventory time. Ross never anymore. I stopped going there. But yes I think Ollie's ought to open in South OKC, Moore or Norman. traxx 06-14-2023, 12:27 PM I went into BB&B the other day to see if they had any good deals. The prices seemed pretty much like regular, everyday prices for a company that's going to cease to exist and everything must go including the fixtures. That’s because it’s being ran by a Liquidation Company. Liquidation companies start the sell out on full retail price. Very few stores sell at full retail price. The steals and deals usually start on the final week of the sale. I worked at Circuit City until a year before they went under. I stopped in as soon as they announced they were closing. I checked in with my former boss and he let me know then how they operated. He hated the first week as everyone coming in was complaining how the prices were better at Best Buy and elsewhere. traxx 06-19-2023, 01:13 PM That’s because it’s being ran by a Liquidation Company. When I was there, there wasn't a whole left so I figured it'd been going on for a while. Oh well, I don't actually need anything from there. Just thought it curious that they were going out of business but their prices for their junk products were terrible. billokc 07-02-2023, 11:25 PM There are ads showing up on Facebook now stating all BB&B stores are closing and offering huge discounts on products. Due to Covid and overstocking." Covid is easy to blame so that the people who run the company don't have to take responsibility. I was in BB&B a few years before covid and it was a sorry state then. I saw this coming back then. When I heard they were going out of business, I was not a bit surprised and covid never crossed my mind as the cause. Stress on a business that has existing problems may well be the cause of failure. Yes, they needed to make changes, but changing may not have been possible once the additional stress created by the pandemic presented itself into the equation. We will never know. It’s not unlike people who may have died from Covid because they had other issues. They didn’t die of the existing condition, but with Covid’s impact, they couldn’t survive. traxx 07-10-2023, 09:15 AM Stress on a business that has existing problems may well be the cause of failure. Rarely is there one cause for a failure like this. I wasn't blaming covid, but it was a significant contributing factor which limited what management could do to correct the course. scottk 07-10-2023, 08:51 PM Just curious, at this point, anything left in the two OKC stores? btmec 08-07-2023, 09:12 AM A lot of people didn't comparison shop and realize that BB&B was often better priced than Amazon. They also had a membership where you got free delivery and 20% off your whole order for $39.95 a year. Our family is really sad to see them close. When you buy tactile things like sheets and towels it is worth a trip to the store to see if you will like them. You don't want to mess with returning sheets in an attempt to find ones you like. barrettd 08-07-2023, 12:18 PM A lot of people didn't comparison shop and realize that BB&B was often better priced than Amazon. That proved false for me. Amazon always beat BB&B. Last year, I was moving into my own place and had to buy a ton of home goods. I did a lot of comparison, and the only thing BB&B priced better was a Miele vacuum that was mis-tagged at about 200 below msrp. Also, the membership excluded most of the best brands from the benefits. There was no reason to buy anything from BB&B. Go see it in person and feel it, check it out, sure, but actually buying goods from BB&B is overspending. Now I’m hoping maybe that old shopping center at Kelly and Danforth will remodel and that space would be good for a TJ’s. Sad to see what BBB has become but a Burlington’s will be cool. Sad to see what BBB has become but a Burlington’s will be cool. I'd do anything for an Edmond Trader Joe's... an unlikely dream of mine is to have an urban TJ's built on the bare land north of Twisted Tree, across from Ellis Island on Broadway. I hope that land gets developed anyway. bombermwc 12-12-2023, 07:40 AM Moore's spot is still empty, which really surprises me. |
