View Full Version : The Stacks
The Medallion Group, developers of Chisholm Creek, is planning a large development on NW 10th just west of Czech Hall Marketplace called The Stacks.
CAVA will have a free-standing building and behind that will be a 2-level commercial building with both retail and restaurant space. To the south will be a large apartment complex with a series of 3-level buildings.

chssooner 12-24-2022, 08:25 AM Nice! Good get for the west metro. Wonder what kind of tenants they will get?
Also,I hope once I-40 is widened, the east metro can get some of these types of developments. But this is great for Yukon!
OKCRealtor 12-24-2022, 08:28 AM That whole area just continues to explode with growth. Great news.
Jeepnokc 12-24-2022, 08:40 AM I saw this and wondered why someone would post about the OU library. (the back area was called the stacks when I was in school there). Looks like a cool development
roci28 12-24-2022, 09:17 AM Definitely has a Chisholm Creek look to it. Looks great! Excited about the new possibilities.

i'm glad i wasn't the only one thinking this!
ChrisHayes 12-24-2022, 01:55 PM There's a road grader and excavator at that site. Makes me wonder if they're going to start construction already, or if they're there for Cava.

It's probably for the apartments to the south as that building permit was filed a while ago.
Pickelman's has signed a deal for a free-standing building to be constructed at the west end of this development.

Bowser214 05-12-2023, 02:20 PM I love the Mid-Century Modern design. Yukon continues to impress! A World Market would fit perfectly in this development.

maybe this development will be haunted as well lol.
roci28 05-14-2023, 02:27 PM Looking forward to this. Some great additions to the area.
ChaseDweller 05-14-2023, 05:40 PM The developers of this center must be fans of Ready Player One. The first part of that book was set just west of OKC in a place called "The Stacks" where multiple mobile homes were stacked on top of each other. The movie changed the locale to Columbus, Ohio.
Pickleman's on the west end, Cava east.

Paule4ou 11-05-2023, 04:44 PM What are they building to the west of the new dealership?
West of the dealership is a collision center, east of the dealership is their 2nd paved parking lot.

If only Pub W and Neighborhood Jam would pick up the pace!

Is this what they call "sprawl?"
stlokc 01-04-2024, 10:06 AM Ha! Yes - if printed dictionaries were still a thing, these pictures could be inserted next to the definition of "sprawl."
The land usage here is really kind of terrible, although not really out of the ordinary for the middle of the country. And I guess "terrible" is subjective but it certainly doesn't feel like any of these suburban developers are making much of an effort to move beyond what they have always done.
stlokc 01-04-2024, 10:09 AM I will say - in going upthread and reacquainting myself with this development, the actual buildings do look more attractive and modern than what I am otherwise seeing in these pictures. It doesn't change the "sprawl" but at least there is some imagination in the building design - so I will give them that.
roci28 01-04-2024, 03:02 PM When are they going to announce what tenants have signed besides Picklemans and Surf Bar? Is Cava in the furthest east building or will that go right next to Arby’s?

I mean...there are some architecturally interesting buildings in the Fritts Farm development on 19th Street in Moore (particularly the Verizon store). Still doesn't really elevate the experience of shopping anywhere in that development relative to cookie-cutter sprawl, IMO.
bombermwc 01-05-2024, 07:35 AM Cava - bleh. Don't know if any of you have ever eaten there, but it's a lot of fancy with not as much substance, especially for the price. Honestly, i found that your neighborhood "need a tetanus shot" Gyro shop, to be a lot better and be cheaper.
Regardless, well it's an interesting idea for the area that they don't have much of. I'm sure it will work well with the way the whole area has been growing.
Paule4ou 01-05-2024, 10:02 AM Cava is the building on the east end, Pickleman’s the west.

Have you ever tried out Shwarma & Co? Prices are reasonable and the food is consistently better than other Mediterranean restaurants in the metro. It is locally owned and operated by two brothers , the restaurant is just north of the Cava by Penn/Memorial. I highly suggest checking them out.

I was just informed about how good this place is yesterday!! Crazy. Means I really need to go soon! Thanks for the suggestion.
SEMIweather 01-05-2024, 05:17 PM I can second the Shawarma & Co recommendation. If I lived closer it would be a regular spot for me. Even living in the Paseo, I still make more of an effort to go there than pretty much any other restaurant in the Quail Springs area.
Plutonic Panda 01-06-2024, 01:12 AM Shawarma Co. Is great I eat there every time I’m in OKC at least once a week.
HangryHippo 01-06-2024, 12:00 PM I also can’t recommend Shawarma highly enough. The food is great and the brothers are extremely nice.
toggley 01-30-2024, 07:17 PM They are moving at light speed on this one. Great to see. Now up to 7 signed tenants.
Do you have the names of the tenants by any chance? I know about Cava, Pickleman's, and Surf Bar, but I haven't been able to find any others.
roci28 01-30-2024, 08:08 PM There are at least 4 other tenants signed but don’t know who they are.
Dave's Hot Chicken taking space in this development:

roci28 07-15-2024, 09:34 PM Love that place!!
roci28 08-03-2024, 01:49 PM CAVA is now open at this location.
citywokchinesefood 08-03-2024, 02:13 PM How is Dave's versus Nashbird? I like to support local businesses over national chains, but if it is really good I will certainly give it a shot.

I personally think Dave's is much better than Nashbird but I started eating there when they opened their first restaurant on Western and their quality has gone down a little bit but they're still fire. I am not a fan of the chicken sandwich at Nashbird's in Edmond. Taste was off and was way too crispy and not enough meat. Second time that's happened. The people who work there are really cool though,
The local Dave's is owned by the Social Order group (Jones, Fuzzy's, etc.).
The whole local vs. non-local thing is very convoluted. There is no way to know the actual ownership of any of these restaurants; most have a front-man or woman as operator but you never know the ownership structure.

But you still gotta have the same ingredients and quality control I'd think. You're just using their likeness. The Dave's out in Oklahoma are comparable to the ones in California IMO. I can't say the same about In-N-Out. The In-N-Out's in Dallas and Denver taste like crap compared to the ones on the west coast.

yeah, the INO's in Vegas are so money after a big night out on the strip. But the Dallas locations might as well be Braum's imo.

I’ve never understood it. it must be from where they source their meat from but even the fries taste better at the West Coast locations. I haven’t been to the new one in Nashville so I don’t know how that one is.

I have only been to the Dallas location, first time at an In-and-Out was this year. I thought it was good but not great. What makes the West Coast locations better?

Perhaps the sourced vegetables are more fresh out in the western locations since they come from fields within hours of them? I've had burgers from both California and Texas locations and personally can't tell a difference but I understand everyone's tastebuds are different.

Pretty sure it is the high alcohol content.

I’m not sure. Just the quality of the burgers and the taste of the food seems to be better. I’ve been to the Dallas location about six times and I’ve never really enjoyed it. I’ve been to the one in Aurora, Colorado Once and I didn’t like it either. But I generally eat in and out once or twice a week. And I live right next to the one in Hollywood so it’s around the corner from me. But even the ones in Vegas, Phoenix, Kingman, etc. Are all good. It’s possible I just went on a bad day.
Plutonic Panda 08-04-2024, 03:31 PM Pretty sure it is the high alcohol content.
Haha. I’m four weeks sober now. So if that continues, I’ll have to reevaluate my stance. I was pretty lit when I went to the location in Colorado. I think I was fairly sober when I went to the ones in Dallas. They’ve opened up a few new ones in Dallas so I can’t remember which one I went to but it was the same one. I went to four times I believe it was off of the north Dallas tollway.
Bobba Tea is taking a space in the middle of this development.

Nothing... I've tried a few in California, Phoenix, and Irving, and they're all the same and not that great. Their biggest selling point would be clean stores and consistency. I've had many better burgers at various local or regional chains.
whatitis 08-26-2024, 02:26 AM I saw a sign for an acai bowl place.

roci28 08-26-2024, 05:12 AM There’s several signs up there for what’s coming. Looking forward to Surf Bar!!
Did the Pickleman’s deal fall through?
roci28 08-26-2024, 11:45 AM No they’ve been working on the inside this past week. At least that’s what it’s been looking like.
whatitis 08-27-2024, 03:49 PM No they’ve been working on the inside this past week. At least that’s what it’s been looking like.
yeah it looks completely done on the outside. So it's gotta be inside and training. I would assume they will open soon.
Did the Pickleman’s deal fall through?
They just filed for their building permit.
Dave's opens Friday 11/22.
Bellaboo 11-19-2024, 08:51 AM Picklemans is open. Pizza is good. Was packed when we went last week.
