Just voted no on the east side. An incredibly low turn out though. Only 140 people had voted as we all know the vote was scheduled in December for a reason.

Which polling location? Probably just missed you lol

Here is the live polling straight from the Oklahoma State Election board: https://results.okelections.us/OKER/?elecDate=20231212

You will need to click on the "Local" tab for the OKC Arena Proposition.

Things can change, but those early and absentee results sure are promising! Especially considering this is a low turnout election. It's not like we'll see another 500,000 votes.

Ralph Ellison Library. Was pretty dead for the most part. Not surprising of the low turnout but I do think plenty of people didn't know either.

The new arena still boosts the value of the franchise significantly and they get the ticket sales and a substantial cut of the concessions/merchandise, etc. The new arena will absolutely be a massive money making venue for the Thunder ownership, even though they don't own it. In fact, owning the arena itself is a net loss for the city, as the current Paycom data shows.

Using the same accounting method, parks are a net loss, public transportation investments are a net loss, investment in Olympic events are (will be) a net loss, etc.

Under that accounting, Paycom data doesn't show grossly more of a net loss than most any other civic operations.

It does show more revenue, though.

Good job, OKC! Better shows, concerts, and most importantly Thunder basketball for far into the future.

Ah, I was at Prospect Baptist Church. Sprinted in with about 3 people at the last minute but it was only the three of us. Should’ve asked what there turnout was.

It list the turnout whenever you put your ballot in the machine. I was number 140 and a few of my family members behind me made it 143. Then possibly 2 more after that. I don't know the area prospect baptist church covers. But I live fairly close to douglass and I think most of the area from lottie to mlk and up to 23rd votes there. So that kinda tells you how low turnout was for ralph ellison. I suppose it was possibly higher in other areas of the city.

king183
12-12-2023, 08:05 PM
It’s going to hold. Effectively impossible for the No votes to overcome at this point, given projected turnout. No would have to take 80% of remaining vote.

Teo9969

Make OKC Big League in March 2008 had 44,849 voters and 61.9% (27,564) approved the proposal vs 38.1% against.

Looks like that is going to get torched by this vote.

While Yes is definitely going to win, it's likely that the largest precincts are still outstanding so things *could* change rapidly. I feel like I remember the expanded/permissive liquor law looked like it was going to fail but flipped when bigger precincts came in. It was something local in recent memory.

That is not how it works in OKC. Large small come in pretty much at the Same times. There is 1 print out per voting machine. The put the results on the door and the. Turn them in to the county.

It is actually a world class road in terms of its engineering it’s a great road. But I know what you mean. It was never “supposed” to be a “world class” road in terms of what Friends for a Better Boulevard proposed or thought it should be. How on earth did anyone expect or think ODOT was going to build a road truly designed to foster a walkable urban environment on their own? That’s not a good example. People(on this board mainly) just reacted negatively to the design when it was released.

Honestly given the way it is now they either should went all the way to a freeway or a true European style urban boulevard. What we now is a half assed road built to go 60 but signed at 25. I’ve already received traffic citations on it because it feels like you’re going too slow at 25. To fix it will require pretty much significant changes to its width and the roundabout idea a former poster here presented was really cool.
