St. Luke's planning to construct a multi-building childcare facility to the east of the church.
Will the influx of young families to downtown and surrounding areas, it seems any type of childcare/school is very tight.
This would be immediately north of the proposed Hub complex (on indefinite hold) and not far from all the vacant Dolese property. Both those sites will eventually see significant development.

Interesting (and good) that they are not demolishing the existing house but rather are incorporating into the plan, at least in terms of how everything looks. Not sure if the house will have anything to do with the childcare. There are fences so seems like not. But it also seems like they DO own the house, based on the property lines.

First wife and I owned that house through the 1990s. Ten years to the day. It is still solid (or was last time I was inside, which was a couple years ago). An amazing survivor, built in 1905. Always had the right person at the right time committed to saving it. Youth, lack of money and ignorant lack of fear let me get such a construction education on that house. Luckily, I was smart enough to do it properly. Even more, I had a wife who bought in on the vision. Two kids under 5 years old make it hard on a mother when she is cooking on a hot plate and washing the dishes in the upstairs tub.
I cannot be happier this is being done. Just wonderful.

I guess this includes the building where CrossFit 405 is. Sucks for them, such a great gym.

No, that building is not a part of this.

In the second photo, the "existing building now removed" was the Yellow Cab headquarters. It was a mid-century building that looked like it was originally a doctor's office. The CrossFit 405 building is east of that and across the alley, which was the first Porsche-Audi building IIRC. The existing building on the west is the St. Luke's library extension (or something like that). Between there and the existing house is 4 lots that were last used in the 1990s as service department for the Bob Moore Oldsmobile Porsche-Audi. The lots east of the house belonged to Yellow Cab and there was a house on the 2 lots next to the existing house. That house was not good and was torn down in the early 2000s. Those lots are all early 1900s style, so they are only about 25 feet wide IIRC. That is why all the houses were built on "double lots".
