Love this. Back in the glory days of Chesapeake, I used to love looking at their time lapse videos of all of their buildings.

I saw a photo of this building from Fassler Hall and of course it completely blocks the skyline from what had been a great view.

True though they got about 7 more years out of it than I thought they would.
stlokc 07-31-2023, 09:52 PM I’m not worried about that in the slightest. Cities change. We need density far more than we need Fassler Hall’s view.
dankrutka 07-31-2023, 10:12 PM The next goal should be to ruin the skyline view of the Phillips Murrah development. ;)

Dan wants to demolish our skyline! Heard it here first!:p

HOT ROD 08-06-2023, 01:12 PM looking good. just curious if they have announced when phase 2 will commence? I can see the apartments filling, quickly.
Also, looking back at the site plan, i wonder why they didn't put the office building on NW 9 to always face downtown? Why put a parking lot there, blocking your view? This would have been a great site for underground parking with building above.

Midtown Renaissance never announces anything. They just file plans and then quickly start work.
I wouldn't expect to see Phase II until this building and the parking garage are complete. And no guarantee the next work would immediately follow.

They have started on the parking garage.
Phillips Murrah is due to move in next summer.
burksooner 10-04-2023, 08:46 AM I know the next phase (apartments) hasn't been finalized yet, but who owns those parcels? MidtownR?

David 10-05-2023, 10:03 AM Going back and looking at the posts in the first few pages of this thread is somewhat hilarious, so much unjustified doomsaying.
This project is moving crazy fast.
The way the top floors are cantilevered looks cool at street level.

chssooner 10-23-2023, 11:42 AM Do e know why they didn't build out to the corner of Hudson? Are their plans for another building to wrap around? Or will it be parking on the corner?

Agreed. It’d be nice if we could pin the plans to the OP as things get updated.
First Fidelity Bank is taking the space on the west end of the first level of this building.

It thrills me when even simple measures like investing in landscaping are done. This city is filled with properties that either look horrible but could be improved so much just by doing something besides maintaining Bermuda grass or buildings that are fairly nice but stand out for their lack of curb appeal, especially if red clay splashed up on it when it rains.

beautifully said, MB. totally agreed.
this is the time of year when you can really tell who gives an F about their real property, because they have successfully overseeded with Perennial Ryegrass or a similar cultivar.

I will admit I am not a regular traveler around the region, or our nation, but can you share what cities are clearly better than Oklahoma City?

In my humble opinion, I wouldn't necessarily say they're superior or inferior to OKC, but I find both Seattle and Salt Lake City to be quite high on the beautification scale.

I thought parts of SLC were gorgeous and others left a LOT to be desired. Obviously, the Mormon grounds were incredible.

I traveled to quite a few places, if I ever move away from OKC, I'd love Kansas City, Savannah, or maybe Boston (I prefer smaller cities).

Ashville, NC, Newport, RI, Nashville, Santa Fe., Annapolis, Md, There are many pretty and nice places to live.

I moved here from KCMO and loved that city. So many things in OKC seem like smaller/more expensive versions of things in KCMO.

If I had the money, I'd purchase the whole West Bottoms area and turn that into a cool neighborhood. Many OKC developers/operators look into Dallas and Kansas City for ideas, that's why you're see so similar things here (BARK, Chicken 'N Pickle, Parlor, etc.). KCMO has the most beautiful skyline, IMO, especially looking from the Liberty Memorial Tower or The Scout Statue locations.

He's saying that people from OKC took certain ideas from places like KCMO and brought them here.

Both of those are originated from Kansas City, Bar K in 2018 -> St Louis in 2021, Chicken 'N Pickle in 2015. Pivot was one of the developers of Bar K.

And it will look so much better in time for the World Cup in 2026! The "Big Cap" over I-670 will transform the Crossroads District. They will get ~4 blocks of park(s) covering the interstate downtown, with concessions, a small forested area, and more, for around $220 million.

G.Walker 01-29-2024, 07:27 AM This project would of looked better if they would of left the black finish, instead of painting it.
Urbanized 01-29-2024, 07:36 AM ^^^^^^^^^^
It’s not paint. It’s a flat gold colored siding. The black material was an underlayment, not an exterior-rated material.
G.Walker 01-29-2024, 07:44 AM Oh, well my point still stands, the black underlayment looked better, lol.
It didn’t, but you’re entitled to your opinion.
