As Urbanized said, it's best economically for OKC to have Texas and all of their fans in OKC for a few more days even if a Bedlam matchup would have been a lot of fun.

I didn't watch but that 3 error fiasco that gave Texas the win must have been devastating for OSU fans to watch. I hurt for them hearing the call on the radio this morning. And I'm by far not an OSU fan. A Bedlam Final would have been fantastic!

I truly hope OU recognizes that Texas can beat them. Overconfidence or sloppy play could lead to what arguably would be a historic loss

Where is that like button!!!!! I love that comment.
To answer dcsooner:
In OU's 3 losses they never looked sloppy or overconfident. Mostly they faced pitchers that had OUs number and made our batters swing at pitches they shouldn't have. We've already faced and dealt with all of Texas's pitchers so we won't face anything unexpected.

Pure speculation on my part but I bet Patty read them the "Riot Act" between games. They were a different team in game 2.

I doubt that happened because that's not Gasso's style, nor is it usually a successful tactic. I think Game 1 was merely one of those bad games every team is bound to have, and OU has had so few of them this season, they were "due." You could tell by the looks on their faces, they felt a bit off and weren't quite able to click with their game plan. Alo and Jennings were swinging at pitches they'd rarely swing at. Also, keep in mind many of them are suffering from injuries and are pushing through them. But you're right, they looked completely different in Game 2--they looked like they have all season: completely dominant.

I hope everyone is getting a chance to watch because what these ladies are doing is absolutely incredible. Their Game 2 win is probably one of the most impressive athletic displays I've seen in college sports (nothing could stop them) and Jocelyn Alo is probably one of the best athletes in OU history. It's great to see.

I've really enjoyed watching all of the softball games. It's still a shame that they have games playing in the middle of the day, though. Every WCWS game should be an evening game unless it's on the weekend.

The finals games are all after 6. Note that even with the early start times, there was controversy last year with games going late, like 230am or so.

Games weren't ending until after midnight this year. Hard to avoid day games for bracket play, but for finals play, it is much easier.

Honest Question. If Oklahoma isn't playing or wasn't very good how many do you think would be there? I know they sale tickets ahead of time before you even know what teams are going to be there but If Ou wasn't playing and it was say two west coast teams do you still think over 12,000 will show up? I say no but I say they still get close to 10,000.

There were years the Sooners didn't even make the tournament and there were still big crowds.

The sport has really grown in popularity, which is why the first OU/Texas game was broadcast on ABC, a first.

Coverage of the Women’s College World Series averaged 941,000 viewers through Monday, down 14% from last year’s record-high (1.09M). Monday’s primetime Texas-Oklahoma State games rank as the most-watched of the tournament thus far with 1.30 and 1.26 million viewers on ESPN, both down from a solo Florida State-Alabama game last year (1.63M*).
In the afternoon, Oklahoma-UCLA drew 703,000 and 1.04 million viewers — both trailing last year’s solo Oklahoma-James Madison game (1.31M*).

Shifting to the weekend, ABC drew a 0.7 rating and 1.25 million for Texas-Oklahoma on Saturday and a 0.7 and 1.06 million for UCLA-Florida on Sunday. On the same weekend last year, three games topped the 1.3 million mark, including James Madison-Oklahoma at 1.56 million.* Six games have topped the million viewer mark thus far, but that is actually one fewer than last year.

College softball is just a great spectator sport.

It plays much faster than baseball and there is plenty of action.

The popularity of baseball on all levels is declining in the U.S., while softball is rising.

Baseball would do well to take notice and speed up their games.

I’m not sure how much it’ll ruin the game from a popularity standpoint but for those that love baseball for the pitching battles, hitting strategies, statistics, etc. it’ll be a critical hit. My oversimplified view is that casuals of any sport love scoring since it’s the easiest thing to follow that indicates how a team is doing while also giving the basic impression that action is happening, so that alone I think will help make it attractive to people that don’t care about the fundamentals of baseball. I’m not saying that’s what I think should happen but I think if what the MLB cares about is popularity and numbers then evolving the game to be faster paced is probably going to be what makes the game more appealing.

Do we have any available data on where the teams and their fans stay when in town? I saw some posts that many of them were staying in the cheapest of the cheap hotels on the outskirts of the city, which I can understand if you’re on a tight budget and you’re already spending a lot to take off work and travel for several days to watch your daughter play. If I recall correctly, the Embassy Suites near OU Medical Campus was the official hotel. I was wondering how many ultimately stay in Bricktown, the Omni, and get to see the areas around downtown.

Hope someone has a breakdown of what teams stayed at the Omni, Embassy Suites (NW or Meridian), Wydham Grand, Courtyard by Marriott or if any team stayed at the Historic Hilton Skirvin. Recall whenever Alabama made the tournament they stayed at the Embassy Suites on Meridian Avenue.

Also if any attendance records were broken. Most sessions appeared to be 80% to near sellouts.

I know texas was staying at Sheraton.
Wydham grand was also a team hotel but must have been one the 4 first eliminated teams as it wasn’t hosting (the have the logos on doors when they are) during the final 4 team games.
Omni was a team hotel I know as well. As well as embassy medical center.
