Corner of Portland and Reno that whole strip center looked closed Did you notice if Statuary World and the flooring place are also closed? kukblue1 03-14-2022, 05:53 PM Did you notice if Statuary World and the flooring place are also closed?. It was after 5:00 so I wasn't sure cuz I think the flooring place closes at 5:00 stationary world looked closed. There where no cars anywhere in that parking lot for that whole strip plaza. Pete 03-14-2022, 05:54 PM Thanks. Let me see what I can find out. Pete 03-14-2022, 05:56 PM Statuary World has permanently closed -- not sure when. Pete 03-14-2022, 06:01 PM The La-Z-Boy store is permanently closed as well. Pete 03-14-2022, 06:03 PM Looks like the Sleep Center and Flooring America are still open. kukblue1 03-14-2022, 07:35 PM Looks like the Sleep Center and Flooring America are still open. The Mathis Brothers sleep center was closed. It was on their sign to where they moved to but I can't remember where it was Pete 03-14-2022, 08:02 PM The Mathis Brothers sleep center was closed. It was on their sign to where they moved to but I can't remember where it was I think they moved right around the corner (to the south). Mustang Man 05-04-2022, 09:03 PM I drove by the Mathis Bros complex on the southwest corner of Reno and Portland and noticed it has been fenced off and looks like it might be getting torn down? Anyone know what is going on? Bill Robertson 05-06-2022, 02:25 PM I don't know anything but a drive by looks like the utilities have been disconnected. Electrical at least is usually left on for remodeling so my bet is it's going away. jn1780 05-06-2022, 02:31 PM Must be for distribution center expansion. Is the Mathis outlet still open? Bill Robertson 05-06-2022, 03:04 PM Must be for distribution center expansion. Is the Mathis outlet still open? I don't know. There was a Purple mattress store in the closed building. Now there's a big Purple sign in front of the main store. So my guess is the main store is absorbing everything that was in the outlet. And then maybe expanding the main building later if necessary to have everything in one building. I wondered why they didn't do that to begin with. Pete 05-07-2022, 12:54 PM I took these this (Saturday) morning. All the buildings facing Reno have been emptied and there is a fence all around. Mathis Outlet just to the south on Portland is still operating. I haven't been able to find any permits/plans for this property, but it would make logical sense to extend their huge warehouse facility to the north. Their distribution center is already a monster. Urbanized 05-07-2022, 10:30 PM Yeah, bye bye THAT place kukblue1 05-08-2022, 11:15 AM Yeah those buildings have been empty a while. I think I posted about it months ago. jn1780 05-08-2022, 01:01 PM I guess Mathis outlet's days are numbered too, unless they plan on building a new spot for it. Doubtful they really need it though. Dob Hooligan 05-11-2022, 12:06 PM I have been told there is not a solid plan for the property at this time. The fenced off area will be demolished (with the possible exception of the part on the west end, which is newer and undergoing evaluation as it might fit into a new project). It happens to be a good time to clear the property and reimagine. I think they are going to make sure whatever is built will be a good and responsible addition to the area that they are so heavily invested in. Pete 05-11-2022, 02:04 PM The Mathis Brothers had talked about a large sports bar on the east end, but I have no idea if that is still in the works. Dob Hooligan 05-11-2022, 02:26 PM I think it still is on the idea board unfundedrick 05-11-2022, 10:57 PM I remember from my Urban Cowboy days, there was a very popular country western club right there. It wasn't my go to place but I was there a few times. catch22 05-12-2022, 10:52 AM I remember from my Urban Cowboy days, there was a very popular country western club right there. I also seem to recall it being something else either before or after, probably after, Graham's. First wife and I went there maybe twice. We had a very short cowboy phase. Dob Hooligan 05-12-2022, 01:57 PM From memory I recall the building was originally built to house a Chevy Dealer around 1970. Again, IIRC, Downtown Chevrolet moved out to the Reno and Portland location that was built by Paul Hudiburg. By 1977ish it was Boyd Chevrolet, and Charles Boyd got upset when Hudiburg doubled his rent, so Boyd partnered with his Yukon banker friend and built on the 5000 W. Reno location. unfundedrick 05-12-2022, 10:03 PM I believe it was Graham's? That's correct. https://grahamcentralstationoklahomacity.com/ Pete 06-06-2022, 02:22 PM Permits have been filed to demolish the rest of the structures on this site. Will be gone soon if not already. Still no idea what they plan to build here, but must be something otherwise they wouldn't go to the expense of demolition. A partially torn down building looks really bad. khook 07-17-2022, 08:57 PM Apparently the old corner strip on the southwest corner that had cowboys rug outlet Thomasville and Drexel showrooms has been completely demolished. Any ideas as what replacement is going to be? PaddyShack 07-19-2022, 10:56 AM I had a few pieces from Drexel, a little pricey, but good solid pieces. Pete 07-19-2022, 10:57 AM Apparently the old corner strip on the southwest corner that had cowboys rug outlet Thomasville and Drexel showrooms has been completely demolished. Any ideas as what replacement is going to be? There are no building or planning permits filed, so no one knows what the plan may be. I suspect they will be expanding their warehouse operation which is just south. Dob Hooligan 07-22-2022, 10:29 AM Sports bar is most likely. Nothing firm at this point. Warehouse expansion is not planned for this area. They think it has more value in another purpose. Pete 07-22-2022, 11:02 AM I wonder why they chased out all the tenants and did a full demolition when they don't have any immediate plans? |
