Harkins also does classic movies on Tuesdays.
Just checked next Tue's showtimes and I guess Top Gun qualifies as a "classic movie". Not quite what I was expecting, lol.

Time marches on. You can't limit "classics" to just 30s-60s forever. Harkins, I think, does a pretty good spread. Their current line up for the next few weeks covers films from the '60s to early 2000s (which, I will remind everyone, is now 20+ years ago).

My problem was more with the choice of Top Gun rather than its age. Personally, I think Tom Cruise plays himself in pretty much all his movies (a couple of exceptions exist), and I just don't like his acting/self and don't really consider Top Gun a "classic" when put up against some other "classic" films (no matter what age). Just seems odd to consider that Top Gun is possibly in the same category of Breakfast at Tiffany's (another one they're showing later this month).

Well, there's no accounting for taste.

I checked out the ICON Cinema this weekend. I was pretty disappointed in the crowd for a Saturday night. We were the only ones in the movie we saw and the parking lot was very bare. Hopefully as word gets out business will pick up.
My Review: Ticket prices are too high. If I'm going to pay that much for a movie, I'll just go to a nicer theater. I think it was $12 for an adult. They do make up for it a bit with the concession prices. They seemed to be reasonable considering they actively promote refilling pop corn and drinks as often as you like. I think a Large popcorn was around $5-6 or you could get a tub for a couple dollars more. The popcorn self serve was really slick and it was great being able to layer butter as you fill the bag. And they have the "old fashioned" soft drink dispensers instead of the freestyle touch screen machines that IMO are terrible.
As for the vibe, it kind of felt like a hospital walking down the hall to the screens. They did as good of a job as you could expect. The theaters and screens are small but that is expected. The sound was a little low as I had trouble hearing some dialogue (I'm 37). The seats are nice but not as good as AMC's signature recliners. It does have an adjustable headrest which is nice. Also, the seat I had stopped working and the one next to it wasn't working either. This wasn't a big deal because the theater was empty so we could move seats.
I'm sure we will go back, especially when taking the kids due to the popcorn refills and drink refills however I do think they need to lower their ticket prices to really attract people to the theater vs other options

The ticket prices do seem high based on the pictures. This is now my closest theater, but for the difference in price, I'll keep driving to Tinseltown.

Went to see Barbie last night and wanted to check out Icon Windsor Hills. The place was packed! The parking was full and the lines for movies and concessions were all full. The two showings we were going to go see were sold out. We got there 30 mins. before the show. We ended up going to another theater, but I think it shows how great of a job they have done at bringing this theater back to life. I will go back when it isn't so crazy!

We saw Barbie there today. We had to do a matinee because all of the evening shows were pretty much sold out.
That was our second time at Icon and both times it has been very busy.
It was great fun seeing the movie and witnessing all of the people dressed up and enjoying themselves. Really excited what Icon has been able to do with the space so far.
