Not sure why I got thinking about this today but is Kelly ogle still at News 9. I remember in his goodbye speech he said he would still be around and then about a month later they ran a segment that he did but I don't think I've heard from him since

I had heard on the street that he had some medical issues that resulted in him being relieved of the anchor chair.

So what is the story behind the lawsuit on the lost ogle today? I can't read it behind the pay wall.

Is that website still around? I forgot it ever existed. It's been half a decade or more since I've even heard that name.

OSCN is down but it is case: 01-22-0004-3851

Basically Ogle v Griffin Media: "An arbitration between the parties was commenced and conducted in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, with a final award entered on or about April 12, 2024."

Thats pretty much it. No more details than the arbitration is awarded and it's case closed.

Longtime friend of Kelly's. He had no medical issues. Relieving him was quite a surprise and shock to him and Teri. Age discrimination if you ask me. Same as how they escorted Gary England out the door.

I thought he was recovering from injuries sustained from a fall in his garage? At least at one point he was. And I'd also heard other reasons for England being given an exit, but I guess those aren't germane here.

I don't think the situation is that unique.

KTUL in Tulsa downsized their newscast operations, and in the process terminated some of their long term anchors, including, an anchor who had been with the station for 27 years. That anchor filed a formal age discrimination suit against the station's ownership along with another anchor.

I think the station ownership could argue that it would come down to budgets. These long time anchors, and station meteorologists probably have some of the largest salaries on the station payroll. The gamble of course is the number of longtime viewers you would lose when terminating long-term anchors and meteorologists. It will be interesting to see what the outcome is.
