The City of OKC bought this 8-field complex for $1 million in 2019. It's located on the SW corner of I-240 and Sunnylane.

Now, they have a project out to bid that would completely re-do the fields, add much nicer facilities and a retention pond, and other improvements.

Should be able to draw regional tournaments in the near future.

I used to play/ump there years ago. It looks like the fields are in pretty bad shape. Has it been unused for a while?

If they go ahead with the i-240 loop, it will definitely need a new name.

Pete is this complex baseball only or does it include a mixed combination of baseball & softball.

It was softball only back in my playing days.

I believe there is a proposed large single family residential subdivision (with possible commercial along Sunnylane) proposed to wrap around this complex.

Why? All of existing I-240, including the section that runs past this sports complex, will remain part of I-240.

Just think it will dilute the ability to identify the location.

I doubt that l-240 Sports Complex will be the eventual name. I'm sure it was just a convenient title for this thread.

What's wrong with Boomer? It's had that name for 40 years or whatever already.

Anyway, I'm not seeing too much here in the way of changes. No real structural changes from what the drawing has. I have never been to the place, so I am curious if it has become worn or something? There's really never been a good entrance to the place, so maybe at least add a sign on the frontage road?

Will this have enough parking if they are playing large tournaments there? Looks like the parking lot stays the same size but has quite a bot of landscaping and road added

Council voted to name it the Douglas R. Kupper Sports Complex

Building permits were just filed for this project; work should be starting soon.
