I can see QT putting a travel center at I-35 and hwy 9 long before Buc-ee's does.

There have been sign permits for the old Circle K on the NE corner of NW 63rd & Broadway. The name will be "Good Stop".


Good Stop is what the Circle K at 27th and I35 in Moore has been changed to also.... Noticed the new signage last night.

QT Travel Centers allow trucks and have truck parking and diesel. Buc-ee's has none of those things. There is a difference so maybe they will co-exist in the Norman area.

They are literally across the street in the FtWorth location. And within a mile of each other in several other locations.

This is the southwest corner of Hefner and I-35 where the QT is being planned.

It would extend south roughly to the northern edge of that older convenience store and would involve demolishing the Dodson Custom Homes building with the white roof in the center of the photo.

There is a good-sized creek that runs at the western boundary.

Oddly, there is no way to get on I-35 north from here. In fact, you can't even get on after traveling on the east service road up to 122nd. The only way to get back on I-35 north is to go all the way south to Britton. It seems it would be easy to add an on-ramp from the east service road to I-35 just north of Hefner; don't know if that is being planned.

pete you can see the north on ramp in your picture .... you turn south on the I35 access road and then turn right to head north ...

all of the on/off ramps are on the south side of Hefner ..

I lived there too, and a third entrance to Northbound I-35 is at 122nd and Sooner road. The advantage to the 122nd entrance is that you have access to the turnpikes and if you take the Sooner road, it enters I-35 past the turnpike entrances.

i don't think QT should come to OKC, we have too many stores as it is..Tulsa has two...QT and Cum And Go. Oncue should be interring
the Tulsa market instead.

They are bringing a travel center. They are not going to "invade" the city putting QTs on every corner like 7-11 or OnCue. This is a totally different.

In addition to the one at Hefner & I-35, I know they are planning another near Norman.

I suspect we'll see more; one in the Yukon area and another out east near Midwest City.

BTW, was just told that they were drilling for core samples at Hefner and I-35 today.

I had not heard an exact location, just that they have been looking in the Moore/Norman area.

On the southwest corner of that intersection is Pickles... The NW corner seems like a more logical spot, occupied only by a discount tobacco place.

That NW corner has been slated for a large gas station for over a year but I thought it was going to be an eXpress.... QT may have made them an offer for that corner they couldn't resist.

If that's the case, they must also be taking the Pickles property and the small car lot just south of it.

That would give them a similar size, shape and location to the property under contract at Hefner & I-35, and in that case (also the SW corner) they will be buying out an existing business and demolishing it. So, they are clearly willing to spend to get a site they want.


I wish I had some way of totaling up what convenience stores have spent to buy/improve/develop properties in OKC in just the last five years. I'm sure we are way over the billion $ mark, which is stunning.

This is so similar to grocery stores where we were so behind other cities and then suddenly, new and better competition came from seemingly everywhere.

Breakfast/brunch places are another example.

QuikTrip building in OKC only proves the handshake agreement between QT and the Brown's 7-Eleven was true all along.

Is this a for sure deal or is it only a rumor?

Regardless they're a little late to the party with OnCue and Casey's coming in.

But it's QT. I'm sure if they build one somewhere on I-35 it will be just fine.

OnCue will continue to keep my business for four reasons
1. Beverage selection
2. Covered parking. It's so nice to walk from the pump to the store in any weather without getting wet.
3. The cleanliness.
4. Drive-Thru

I agree with all the above. In #2, it's nice to also walk without baking and roasting in the intense summer sun! :)

But I also like the pumps are pretty safe and tamper resistant. I've had one of the employees tell me they walk the pumps multiple times daily to make sure there hasn't been any tampering like fraudulent scanner/readers placed by scammers.

I can't say since corporate bought all of them now, but back when it was family owned that was the case.

From OnCue's website, "OnCue gas is Top Tier Phillips 66 Gasoline. When you buy Quality Guaranteed Gasoline at OnCue, you are filling your tank with elite Top Tier Gasoline from Phillips 66 that has three times more detergent additive than the minimum required by the EPA."

Costco on Western also has "Top Tier" gas, usually for a few cents cheaper with the membership card than the OnCue across the street.

From our experiences, OnCue seems to be about 2 cents more per gallon than the closest 7-11. We also notice about 2-3 more MPG with OnCue gas, which easily makes up the difference per mile.

Yeah, Planning Commission had already passed that; City Council is always just a formality.

I went by and took a thorough look yesterday and nothing is happening yet.

They have yet to file any sort of permits (just rezoning plans) so it's going to be a while before they really get going.

They have said only Travel Stops in OKC. I don't think we'll see more than a handful.

I'm assuming it will go where the Real Estate School was.... The NW corner has had a sign up for about a year now that an E-Express is going there.

They are probably acquiring more than just the school on that corner. And remember, their site at Hefner and I-35 will involve demolishing a very nice and relatively new showroom for a home builder.


As I've said elsewhere, these big c-stores must have very high margins because they are all spending a ton of money, not just on their stores but on real estate. OnCue has spent similarly on several sites.

They wrap the plan in QT designs but it's a charter, not a private plane.

great customer service (via a secret shopper check) for normal employees ..

store $ sales (for the store manager / ast managers)

Assessor's page says it was built in 2010. HOT ROD, there's no reason to save it - it's not historical, it's not architecturally significant, it's just a standard office building that's 10 years old.
