I was talking with a colleague of mine about Will Rogers park yesterday and he mentioned a long-gone restaurant on the east side of the park named Christopher's. He said it was overlooking a pond and his parents had their 25th wedding anniversary party at this eating place many, many years ago. He was young and thought at the time that it was a "fancy" restaurant. Does anyone remember this? This predates my time in OKC, but I'd be interested to know where it was and what's in that spot now, if anything. Or, maybe he dreamed this up! Thanks.
Yes, it was on the southeast border of the park, near what is now I-44.
Before the interstate was built through there, that thoroughfare was Grand Boulevard.
Christopher's closed in 1986; believe it opened in 1965. It was an upscale, special occasion type of place. Lots of my high school friends took prom dates, etc.
You can still see the pond and property below; the restaurant was close to where Champion Hotels now has its offices:

Thanks, Pete. That's interesting, I'll take a look next time I'm in the area.
The little pond is still there.

Ride by there every day on the way to work, had no idea that used to be a restaurant. Heck I didn't know it was champion hotels HQ or whatever. I just presumed it was part of the variety care place or something.
Christopher's was a big deal back in the day.
Probably the nicest restaurant in town at that time.
