View Full Version : Dutch Bros. Coffee
Dutch Brothers coffee coming to the old Taco Bueno spot on NW 23rd just east of Penn.
They have one area location at 5901 SE 15th in Midwest City, and another planned for 300 S. MacArthur just south of Raising Caines on Reno. Another planned for 633 N. Perkins in Stillwater.

TheTravellers 07-08-2021, 10:53 AM Looks like they're expecting to be busy, lol... We'll definitely go there, glad to finally get a coffee place around the 23rd-50th/Penn-Portland area besides *$ on 36th/May (although Classen Coffee will always be our go-to when we're by them).
Dutch Bros. has a reputation of being more affordable.
I'm not a coffee drinker so no idea of how it compares taste-wise.
jerrywall 07-08-2021, 11:00 AM I'm happy they planned well for plenty of cars in line. I've gotten to really hate Starbucks because they make no effort in the design of most of their locations and their drive thru lines routinely backup into traffic, and in some places (such as 15th and Broadway in Edmond) they end up blocking the intersections they're near.
This location (and I believe the others in Oklahoma) is drive-thru only.
That Starbucks at 63rd & Western is a complete cluster, and it's almost new. Very bad planning.

Wife says the one on 23rd/Robinson is a mess, so yeah, I'm w/jerry - very glad they planned well.
HangryHippo 07-08-2021, 11:06 AM They’re also putting one in on the NW corner of Vandament and Garth Brooks Blvd in Yukon.
Celebrator 07-08-2021, 11:40 AM Dutch Bros. is ubiquitous in Oregon--like in every other large parking lot it seems--that's the way they do them out there.
Bowser214 07-08-2021, 11:41 AM S. MacArthur location already under construction.
Taken today; this is the location on SE 15th in Midwest City; it's directly across from the Warren Theater:

That is also the way it is for the only Starbucks in Stillwater. But hopefully relieving that is a new one about ready to open near Western and W. 6th. The new Dutch Bros. in Stillwater is early under construction, not far south of Perkins Rd. and McElroy.
roci28 07-08-2021, 04:03 PM And Yukon… we seem to be forgotten sometimes…is getting one also. Coffee Jerks also opened a few days ago out here. 16947

Where is the Yukon location?
It wasn't listed on the Dutch Bros. site which is why I didn't mention it.
HangryHippo 07-08-2021, 04:17 PM See my post #7.

Yeah I moved here from the PNW 10 years ago and the first thing I noticed was the lack of Dutch Brothers locations (and drive thru coffee in general)
They are HQ'd in Grants Pass, Oregon.
mobstam 07-14-2021, 12:16 PM Not a huge coffee afficionado by any means, but I've always found Starbucks coffee to be bitter.
My wife and I tried Dutch Bros in MWC a couple of weeks ago and thought that it was really good. Didn't think it was bitter tasting at all.

I"m working on trying to be one. It's the case cause the beans are over roasted. Only way to achieve a consistent taste.
Was told Dutch Bros will be taking the old Conoco spot on the SE corner of 15th and Broadway in Edmond.
warreng88 07-18-2021, 12:31 PM Is this renovation or demo and construction?
Is this renovation or demo and construction?
Did you not see the site plan I posted?
It's a complete demo and rebuild.
Bits_Of_Real_Panther 07-18-2021, 02:18 PM Wonder if the NW 23rd will have any chicken
Brett 07-18-2021, 08:36 PM Wonder if the NW 23rd will have any chicken
I didn't see any chicken on the menu but they do have a golden eagle.
soonerguru 07-19-2021, 10:47 AM Several of my Pac NW friends seem very excited by this announcement.
It seems to have a reputation for good quality and a lower price-point than Starbucks.
Lots of positive feedback on social media.

Seems like they have a very real shot of remedying the egregious lack of Dunkin Donuts in the greater OKC area.
therhett17 11-05-2021, 08:38 AM Does anyone know why the location at Reno & Macarthur still hasn't opened?

They're probably re-thinking that location. That stretch of Macarthur is a **** show
Thatguy15 11-05-2021, 09:50 AM It opens on Wed 11/10...btw
MagzOK 11-05-2021, 01:08 PM Edmond is getting one. 15th & Broadway
Yes! Yes! Yes! Man, we fell in love with this coffee while in Colorado. I wonder if it'll be going in right there on the corder where the abandoned Circle K is. If it is, I hope they're able to go a little into the large parking lot in front of the larger shopping center behind. Each location we went to and drove by in COS, they constantly had lines at all hours of the day and evening while they were open.

It certainly is more attractive than the solid dark gray one in Stillwater. Dutch Bros. recently sold public stock, so they will have money to build a lot more locations.
The grand opening of Dutch Bros. reviewed in a couple of local Stillwater papers:

Yes.
floyd the barber 11-21-2021, 03:47 PM The location in Yukon has now hiring signs.
The starting pay is $8.25 an hour.
Disgusting. I was excited to try it but I'm not now.

They probably get tips too.

It is.
The way I spend my money is important to me. I try to go out of my way to find businesses that support my beliefs.
I try dine at family own restaurants, fill up my gas at family owned or small business c-stores, and I try avoid Walmart and Amazon whenever possible. Those businesses make enough money. I can do without them.
I guess I would like to believe smaller businesses treat their employees better. I know that's not always the case, but I'm pro labor rights and against big business.
I'm naive and I know it, but we have enough corporations in the US. I want to see a better life for everyone. A wage that low is ridiculous to me.
OKCbyTRANSFER 11-21-2021, 08:51 PM ^^ I tend to agree, within reason. Maybe this is a local franchise starting up a couple of locations here? I'm open to supporting something like this vs a Walmart.
And as mentioned above, there are probably some tips involved.
TheTravellers 11-22-2021, 09:26 AM It is.

Dutch Bros isn't a smaller business, they have what looks like over 100 locations, easily, so if you're against big business, you probably shouldn't go there.
Dob Hooligan 11-22-2021, 10:07 AM I think they can offer that wage all they want, but that doesn't mean they will get any takers. Market looks like it gonna take much higher to hire anybody.
soonerguru 11-23-2021, 01:07 AM They will not get workers at that wage in this city. Thanks for the heads up. It says a lot about how little they value their employees. So, I will continue to patronize other coffee establishments.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I'm not saying employees won't make more through tips but it's a drive thru coffee shop. How many people tip Starbucks employees at the window?
You would hope a company that has over 10,000 locations would be able to pay their employees more than $8.25 an hour.

Is this a company owned store or a franchisee? Makes a big difference.
But I agree, they're going to have some difficulty filling those positions at $8.25.

Sometimes we do, depends on if the service, which it always should.
roci28 12-01-2021, 05:38 AM Yukon location opened yesterday. Crew very friendly and speedy.
TheTravellers 12-17-2021, 12:45 PM Is the 23rd St. one still on? Lot's been cleared, but there's (still?) a "For Info" realtor sign up on it.
kukblue1 12-17-2021, 01:01 PM Are they putting one up at council and I-40. What is that little building going up at the i-40 west bound ramp.

I wondered that too. There is also a new Starbucks going in around the corner from there.

Bellaboo 12-19-2021, 01:09 PM Went by the Yukon store this morning and cars were lined up forever.
New Dutch Bros. coming to 7416 S. Western.
This is the NE corner of Western and I-240, on the site of a convenience store, just south of Burger King.

That c-store is a dump but is always busy. Be a nice change. They just built a scooters coffee on western about a 1/2 miles south of this location. My cigar store is right between the two and the car count in this area of Western is crazy so both should do well
Dr Beard Face 01-03-2022, 12:20 PM They probably get tips too.
We got tips at Stella Nova, but it only averaged out to about $2hr per person. People don't tip as much as you think at coffee places. Stella at least pays their café employees better, I think it was all starting $11/hr or more.
MagzOK 01-07-2022, 09:01 AM @ 15th and Broadway/Edmond location -- the old Circle K gas station building now has the Midwest Wrecking orange paint initials on the front indicating a razing is coming soon.
FighttheGoodFight 01-07-2022, 04:00 PM Norman's opens on the 14th.
shawnw 01-07-2022, 04:10 PM a coffee shop that generates long car lines onto the street should be great for the traffic at 15/Broadway
Elrenogolf 01-07-2022, 04:21 PM a coffee shop that generates long car lines onto the street should be great for the traffic at 15/Broadway
That area is pretty big and the Dutch bros building footprint is small so hopefully that can be avoided.
TheTravellers 01-30-2022, 09:03 PM 23rd St. one is still an empty lot with the "For Lease" sign on it, so I looked it up on the County Assessor's site. It's owned by Mohr Penn OKC LLC, not Dutch Bros as their other locations are, so I doubt one's going in there, bummer...
