Cheddars is planning a new location near Quail Springs Mall, on the site of the shuttered TGI Fridays:

rte66man 05-14-2021, 04:29 PM About time! We are tired of driving to Yukon for our Cheddars fix.
jbkrems 05-14-2021, 04:30 PM I agree this is about time! Looking forward to seeing if they have changed up and or improved their corporate menu.
Thomas Vu 05-14-2021, 10:10 PM I too also enjoy cheddars more than fridays.

Same.

None of these words sound appealing.

+1. Cheddars is amazing. Big improvement over Friday’s or Tuesdays.

Heh, seconded... We just don't eat at Cheddars/Fridays/Applebees/Ruby Tuesdays/Chilis/Whatevers (and yeah, I know there are some apostrophes missing), haven't patronized any of those in years, if not decades.

This guy gets it.
Rover 05-17-2021, 07:45 AM If you are looking for gastronomic amazement, Cheddars isn’t your place. They do basic things well and pretty consistently. Not every meal has to be an experience. But, good consistent value and a family oriented restaurant with a nice selection of dishes properly prepared is better than what has been there.

Exactly, having a 3 year old who is rather picky at this time, a place like Cheddars will go a long way in our house when we decide to take him out. It's nothing fancy, but it's heads and shoulders above the other options they compete against.

Bingo. I wish Cheddars would appear somewhere in SW OKC.
Jersey Boss 05-17-2021, 02:17 PM Been to Cheddars once and got indigestion from the pork chop dinner. I have been happy with Charlestons as a better alternative.

Apples and oranges. Charleston's has a much more limited menu and is more expensive. My wife and I love Charleston's but we are empty nesters and can swing it. IMO, Cheddars is way better than Chili's, Applebees, Friday's, etc.

Went to Boulevard once and got indigestion. Went to Burger King and didn’t. I guess BK is a better alternative.

I guess BK is a better alternative. You got indigestion at BLVD due the Martini's that you couldn't get at BK! HA. But your point is very valid. I grew up in N. Dallas and we had Cheddar's before we had Chili's and Chili's was born in Dallas. Always been a fan and the price point is perfect for families.

Meh, weak analogy. That being said first impressions are lasting impressions. My trip to Cheddars was my first(and last). Looking at Yelp my local Cheddars gets 3 stars and Applebee's and Chilies get 2.5. Seems comparable, but whatever. If you find Burger King and Cheddars desirable, then enjoy, as taste is subjective. Bon Appetit.
jn1780 05-19-2021, 04:53 PM We are talking about a middle of the road restaurant. You either like it or not. I would eat at a different five star restaurant everyday if I could. The service at all those chain restaurants along Memorial have been crappy. Too many restaurants with two little employees to pick from.

So, of course you completely failed to understand the point. Lol.

This, they are just okay. Maybe the appeal is folks like to eat on the cheap ?
I took this yesterday (Wednesday). The old TGI Friday's has yet to be demolished.

No, their building permit application expressly states they will demo the existing structure and build completely new.
Old TGI Friday's coming down this morning:

Irishman23 02-20-2022, 12:21 PM Glad to hear they took down the old building and not just a remodel. The last two times I was in Fridays (about 1 year apart) there was an odor in the restaurant that was really bad.
NavySeabee 02-21-2022, 12:00 AM We gave Cheddars about a dozen tries and finally stopped going. Each time the service was lousy or the food was terrible. The last visit it was both. The only thing I can see going for this place is the nice decor and the portions. The portions are huge compared to most places.

Which location?
We go pretty often to the one in Norman. The service has been basically on par with most full service restaurants in the area during the pandemic. They’ve had trouble getting enough workers and have a number of newbies. But the ones they have have for the most part tried hard and been friendly. Lots of other places with worse service.
And, for the price point, the food is pretty darn good. They have several things that are done very, very well. Good family place. But, don’t expect food quality of the Ranch or Metro for their pricing.
Wishbone 02-21-2022, 04:32 PM Cheddars took away my favorite options. The chicken parm and the meatlloaf.
Bellaboo 02-21-2022, 05:24 PM They took away the onion ring stack about a year ago. The best thing they had going for them food wise imo.

Yeah I'll never go to Cheddar's again. Their food was awful.
therhett17 05-09-2022, 02:07 PM The only thing I ever liked at Cheddar's was this baked spaghetti/lasagna dish called "spasagna". At some point they got rid of it and I haven't been back since.

Midwest City. They were open long before the pandemic or worker shortage was even a thing. The experience was so bad the last time we’re done with Cheddars.
Recently ate at the Cheddars in Norman (first time at that location) after traveling back from Winstar. The service was OK. We were seated in the bar area and waitress was also the bar tender. The food was mediocre at best. We normally go to the one in Yukon and it is only slightly better. It seems like their food was better 3-4 years ago when the only one around for us was in Midwest City.
