New-concept Schlotzsky's going in just south of Freddy's on N. Penn between 122nd and Memorial.

One of the first of the new prototypes in the country; only 1,145 SF with no indoor dining. 2 drive-thru lanes and a walk-up window.

Wonder what will happen to the one on Memorial Road? Also, if this concept doesn't work, it looks like it could easily be converted into another Scooters. :p

In all seriousness, is there a unwritten law in OKC Ward 8 that all restaurants must be within viewing distance of the Kilpatrick turnpike? This store's emphasis on the quick drive thru is great, until someone tries to turn out onto Penn at 5:30 PM and spends another 30 minutes just trying to get north of Memorial.

Interesting. The building layout and service arrangement reminds me a lot of Checkers/Rally's. I suppose it makes sense if they think they'll have a large volume of to-go business here that won't eventually want to transition back to dining room service once the Pandemic is fully behind us. I'm curious to see how well this concept will perform.

More and more restaurants are going with the to-go-only model.

Salad and Go is a great example but also Scooters and some others. Locally, Bun Box and a new Okie Poke will employ the same type of layout.

It makes a lot of sense and not only due to the cost savings of not having to build out indoor seating.

The memorial location has been closed for months

Depending on the time of day, I use either the location across from Baptist Integris Hospital (right next to Panera Bread), or the NW Hiway/Rockwell location. Favorite is the Turkey Bacon Club on rye bread.

It would be good if they would lose the Cinnabon. The combined smell of Schlotzky's sandies and cinnamon rolls is a weird jam.

I've always loved Schlotzky's, though: medium deluxe original with extra mustard. nom nom

First Bite Cafe -- formerly First Watch -- will be taking that old Schlotszy's building on Memorial.

They have been operating in the strip center behind.

I like this double drive though setup with the walk up window. I wish more places would do this . I can't figure out why the Scooters don't all have walk-up windows (except it not being their model). We have one right outside our neighborhood we'd probably hit on our walks but you have drive though only.

Oh man, going up right next to IHOP. Bold location.

I was there yesterday. It is a great concept with 2 different drive through lanes and a walk up window. One drive through for drive up ordering and another for online order pickup. The food and service was great.

Not at all. First Bite is on a whole different stratosphere than IHOP.

Are you prohibited from walking up to a drive through window?

Are you prohibited from walking up to a drive through window?I've seen signs many places that say they would serve walk ups at drive thru windows for safety reasons.

I've wondered about why since they closed. They were always busy when I were by there.

They phased in the closing. They had restricted hours (11-4 M-F) due to staffing shortages. Soon after they closed completely.

OK. The one on NW Exp & Rockwell went through a long spell of never knowing when they'd be open or not due to staffing but they made it through it.

The MWC location is in a weird purpose built mixed use building, and during COVID they cut the Schlotzkys space by quite a bit. I am not sure, but i think they ended up turning the part they cut off, into more residential? I'll have to look more closely when i go back. Maybe it's just a small commercial office space now. But the staff is great, the food is still good, and i'm glad they made it through. All the folks at Swig (same parking lot) can't hurt either.
