View Full Version : In-N-Out PurpleChicken 03-01-2021, 05:34 PM They are expanding in the Denver area now. They need to be here. Come on In-N-Out, we need you! dankrutka 03-01-2021, 07:21 PM I live three miles from one (probably the closest one to OKC at 2.5 hours) and I’ve been... once. We had a free coupon. Teo9969 03-01-2021, 07:45 PM Braum's burger is better. Would probably also take Carl's Jr. kukblue1 03-01-2021, 08:15 PM Burger 99 out of 100. Fries 1 out of 100 so i'm fine with not getting one. Would rather have and eat at a Buc-ees. Ward 03-01-2021, 08:26 PM I've eaten at In N Out while in California. It was ok but I was not impressed. Pete 03-01-2021, 09:03 PM It's awesome. It's the one food place I miss from California. PurpleChicken 03-01-2021, 09:09 PM It's awesome. It's the one food place I miss from California. Yeah!! I miss La Salsa, Rubio’s, California Burritos from Huntington Beach, Wahoos (Denver has those too), a lot of great food. Oh, Fatburger too! progressiveboy 03-01-2021, 09:23 PM I like In and Out! It is reasonably priced and is fresh and good quality. Braums is ok but nothing special. In and Out has been around since the 40's, so it must be doing something well!! Plutonic Panda 03-01-2021, 09:26 PM In-N-Out is amazing. Good quality food too. I would love if OKC got a couple locations. Scott5114 03-01-2021, 10:01 PM I've eaten there twice (once in the Dallas area, once in Waco), and it's good, but if we had one it would just be part of the normal rotation...except my wife is from San Diego, so I'm sure she would have us get three meals a day there if she could. Plutonic Panda 03-01-2021, 10:11 PM I do hope In N Out doesn’t go east of Oklahoma. I kind of like having chains synonymous with geographical areas with In-N-Out being associated with the west. Build an In-N-Out in OKC and a White Castle in Tulsa(Vegas is an exception). Then and only then will we achieve a true equilibrium. mugofbeer 03-01-2021, 10:17 PM Is it worth a 4 hour wait? The new one in far south Denver has those now. Traffic was backed up one direction nearly a mile Sunday. MikeLucky 03-01-2021, 10:31 PM First off, if you didn't order your burger animal style then you really didn't do it right and should try it animal style before making a final opinion. Non-animal style is just another fast food burger. Animal style burger from In-N-Out is fantastic. For those of you missing In-N-Out, I've found that a freshly made double cheeseburger from Del Taco is a pretty darn good impersonation of an animal style burger from In-N-Out. For those of you missing In-N-Out, I've found that a freshly made double cheeseburger from Del Taco is a pretty darn good impersonation of an animal style burger from In-N-Out. Agreed, and when Del Taco came here I drove all the way down to Moore to get some. People at work thought I was crazy but that's another one I used to frequent in California. They used to have these piled high Tostadas but they quit making them like that. Still good though. I haven't tried their burgers. Sounds like something I need to try. barrettd 03-02-2021, 06:50 AM Yeah!! I miss La Salsa, Rubio’s, California Burritos from Huntington Beach, Wahoos (Denver has those too), a lot of great food. Oh, Fatburger too! When I lived in Southern California, I very much preferred Fatburger to In N Out. If we had a Fatburger here, I'd be in serious trouble. I'd love a Wahoo here, as well as El Pollo Loco. Pete 03-02-2021, 07:19 AM ^ El Pollo Loco is the bomb. Plutonic Panda 03-02-2021, 07:19 AM There really is a good rotation of FF in SoCal. Tommy’s is great as well. There a place now expanding called Dave’s Chicken which is great. I wish they’d build one here. SouthOfTheVillage 03-02-2021, 08:07 AM It’s good if you understand the ins and outs of their Secret Menu. But it’s perfectly average if you don’t. ditm4567 03-02-2021, 09:03 AM I would take a Shake Shack over In-n-Out any day of the week. Ward 03-02-2021, 09:11 AM Yeah!! I miss La Salsa, Rubio’s, California Burritos from Huntington Beach, Wahoos (Denver has those too), a lot of great food. Oh, Fatburger too! Rubios!!!! Yes! My must eat place. Fish Tacos are excellent, and everything is very reasonably priced, even by california standards. Bill Robertson 03-02-2021, 09:27 AM I have to take the side of I don't get it. I've been to one in Dallas because I kept hearing how great they are. It was ok. BoulderSooner 03-02-2021, 09:29 AM I would take a Shake Shack over In-n-Out any day of the week. as would most people shake shack is not fast food ... ditm4567 03-02-2021, 10:12 AM as would most people shake shack is not fast food ... Once their drive thru locations are up and running by years end, would you then categorize Shake Shack as fast food? BoulderSooner 03-02-2021, 10:36 AM Once their drive thru locations are up and running by years end, would you then categorize Shake Shack as fast food? will they still serve beer? and be fast casual? MikeLucky 03-02-2021, 09:28 PM Agreed, and when Del Taco came here I drove all the way down to Moore to get some. People at work thought I was crazy but that's another one I used to frequent in California. They used to have these piled high Tostadas but they quit making them like that. Still good though. I haven't tried their burgers. Sounds like something I need to try. The last tostada I got from the Del Taco on NW Expressway was loaded. It was fantastic. rizzo 03-03-2021, 04:45 PM What OKC needs is a Fuddruckers. I think there used to be one at Memorial & Penn way back when AMC was where PF Chang's sits. Anyone remember a Fudd's ever being in OKC? Harrigan's anyone? I ate many a burgers there as a kid. Plutonic Panda 03-03-2021, 04:48 PM Yeah Fuddruckers is pretty good too. Honestly I’m not gonna there are a lot of places that need to come to OKC I would appreciate. HangryHippo 03-03-2021, 04:52 PM Isn’t Fuddrucker’s completely gone now? corwin1968 03-03-2021, 05:03 PM Yeah Fuddruckers is pretty good too. Honestly I’m not gonna there are a lot of places that need to come to OKC I would appreciate. For years, I saw Fuddruckers mentioned on another forum where I hang out a lot. I honestly thought it was a verbal meme or slang term for something obscene, until I actually saw a Fuddruckers in Tulsa. I remember it being pretty good but very, very expensive. We went a couple of times, but we rarely go to Tulsa and there was another restaurant we loved, so we haven't been back to Fuddruckers in years and I don't know if it's even still there. rizzo 03-03-2021, 05:04 PM There is one still open in Tulsa on E 71st. Its a franchise location. Pete 03-03-2021, 05:14 PM There was a Fuddruckers on NW Expressway between MacArthur and Rockwell that opened in 1987, in the same complex that had Harrigan's and Black Eyed Pea, called Peppertree Square. Another one at I-240 and Walker that opened in late 1984; now occupied by Taste of China. I actually did both those deals when I was a commercial real estate broker. Ward 03-03-2021, 05:29 PM Harrigans was very good, in my opinion. Loved their nachos and hawaiian chicken dish. Martin 03-03-2021, 05:50 PM Another one at I-240 and Walker that opened in late 1984; now occupied by Taste of China. close... it was i-240 and western. and oh my goodness i loved harrigan's so much. there's actually one left in lubbock. Pete 03-03-2021, 05:53 PM ^ I meant Western. It was called the Westerview Shopping Center at the time. I loved Harrigan's as well. The Shadow 03-03-2021, 06:08 PM What OKC needs is a Fuddruckers. I think there used to be one at Memorial & Penn way back when AMC was where PF Chang's sits. Anyone remember a Fudd's ever being in OKC? Harrigan's anyone? I ate many a burgers there as a kid. You're thinking of "Longnecker's." It was in the NW corner of the complex that housed the AMC at Penn and Memorial. It was a local knockoff of Fuddruckers, which was from Texas. They also had one on the Southside in what I believe was the old Sirloin Stockade. BDP 03-03-2021, 06:35 PM There really is a good rotation of FF in SoCal. The Southland is a fast food mecca. No city/region does it better or offers more options in that category (for better or worse, ha). The thing about In n Out is that a lot of first timers think it's going to be some big specialty restaurant burger, because it's so heralded by those that love it, and are left thinking "meh". But when judged firmly in the FF burger segment, its reputation is deserved, especially when ordered animal style. Is it worth a 4 hour wait? Well, I'd argue that nothing in that category is (or maybe in any category). That's why it's called it FAST food. catch22 03-03-2021, 06:41 PM The In-N-Out lines at the one closest to me are pretty tame now at off-peak time. I can go pretty frequently without it being an all day affair. They are putting a location in about a mile from my house. Can’t wait. We are also about to get an El Pollo Loco. Pete 03-03-2021, 07:02 PM I used to swim every day after work and between my pool and my house was an In-n-Out that was not busy at all, at least by their standards. I hate to think of all the workouts I undid with a Double-Double! BDP 03-03-2021, 07:21 PM I hate to think of all the workouts I undid with a Double-Double! Haha. You earned it. bhawes 03-03-2021, 08:16 PM Harrigans was very good, in my opinion. Loved their nachos and hawaiian chicken dish.I love there peach tea and ribs ctchandler 03-03-2021, 08:46 PM Longnecker's was on NW Expressway close to where Outback is. I also went to the Fuddrucker's on South Western. I couldn't tell the difference. I loved Harrigan's. It was on my weekly lunch list. C. T. MikeLucky 03-03-2021, 08:53 PM Sorry but fuddruckers isn't better than the Garage or Tucker's. By the way if you haven't tried New State burgers in the plaza, add it to your list. In-N-Out would at least be an upgrade to the FF burger offerings here. unfundedrick 03-03-2021, 10:39 PM Sorry but fuddruckers isn't better than the Garage or Tucker's. By the way if you haven't tried New State burgers in the plaza, add it to your list. In-N-Out would at least be an upgrade to the FF burger offerings here. I ate at the Fuddruckers on S. Western quite a few times. Based on what was available at that time, it was very, very good. There just weren't a lot of competitive options like there are today. Martin 03-04-2021, 07:22 AM Longnecker's was on NW Expressway close to where Outback is. I also went to the Fuddrucker's on South Western. I couldn't tell the difference. I loved Harrigan's. It was on my weekly lunch list. C. T. there was also a longnecker's at i-240 and penn (around where del taco is today) in this same time period. both were gone by the mid 80's. Martin 03-04-2021, 07:24 AM I meant Western. It was called the Westerview Shopping Center at the time. yep... easy to get the two swapped. i've know i've done that many times myself. had no idea of the name of that shopping center... checked google streetview and it's still named that! the area was definitely different in the 80's... for a short while shogun operated a restaurant on the northern end of the strip center on the second floor. Martin 03-04-2021, 07:26 AM Sorry but fuddruckers isn't better than the Garage or Tucker's. By the way if you haven't tried New State burgers in the plaza, add it to your list. In-N-Out would at least be an upgrade to the FF burger offerings here. regardless of personal taste... in the early to mid 80's, fuddrucker's as a "higher end" burger joint was a bit ahead of their time. i'd say it took a couple decades for that market to get saturated. The Shadow 03-04-2021, 10:06 AM there was also a longnecker's at i-240 and penn (around where del taco is today) in this same time period. both were gone by the mid 80's. Martin, it was in the former Sirloin Stockade where the murders took place. That building was eventually razed when Joe's Crab Shack was built. I remember they had the meats displayed in a case when you walked in, sort of like Salt Grass does nowadays. T. Jamison 03-04-2021, 10:21 AM My in-laws in Tulsa swear by Fuddruckers. I ate there for the first time a few months ago and was really impressed. The one burger joint I miss the most from Tulsa is Goldie's. I wish there was one here in OKC, but I go to Tulsa once or twice a month so I'll make due. Martin 03-04-2021, 10:34 AM Martin, it was in the former Sirloin Stockade where the murders took place. That building was eventually razed when Joe's Crab Shack was built. I remember they had the meats displayed in a case when you walked in, sort of like Salt Grass does nowadays. ahh... i didn't realize that. i had thought that sirloin stockade was torn down in order to build longnecker's. yeah, a building with that kind of history must have turned off a lot of folks. now... i think the building that joe's occupied was originally built as a black-eyed pea and then renovated. that building was torn down to build del taco. I wish there was one here in OKC, but I go to Tulsa once or twice a month so I'll make due. wow... i did not realize any of those were still left. when i was a kid, we occasionally went to the one on i-240 and shields that was (i think) originally built as a bonanza. it was located where harbor freight is now. The Shadow 03-04-2021, 03:13 PM A page ago I was ready to say the NW Exp Fuddruckers location was where Outback is now. Glad you correctly pointed out that was Longneckers. I liked both. Wasn't Longneckers was west of Friend's (the Original) and My Pie Pizza? I think after it closed it became Time Out, which is where the PCNorth kids hung out at the time, then UR Cooks. I think they tore it down in the 90's to build the original outback building. Pete 03-04-2021, 03:17 PM Wasn't Longneckers was west of Friend's (the Original) and My Pie Pizza? Nimbles and Butterfield Overland Express plus a dollar theater if I remember right. Pete 03-04-2021, 03:24 PM There was a pretty large building there at first that housed all the above mentioned plus J.B. Bill Robertson 03-04-2021, 03:30 PM JB Nimbles was in the strip center across the parking lot where Academy is now. Butterfield's and the theater were in a little mall north of where Outback is currently located. That was my stomping grounds. The theater and Butterfields were south of Outback and BWW. Where the empty area is now behind Outback and BWW. I also did part of the electrical work on the theater. North of Outback would have to be across NW Exp and that's definitely not right. Pete 03-04-2021, 03:31 PM I meant the mall was south, not north. I grew up right down the street near 63rd & Meridian and I knew the owners of My Pi. The Goldie's I remember in OKC were at Hefner & Pennsylvania (Shakey's, Goldie's, and lastly Pioneer Pies before it was razed) and S. Broadway & 9th in Edmond. Does that sound right? I did like Goldie's, and even though I have never been a pickle fan, I liked their pickle bar. |
